Two years later

"Juliette please, why do you keep offering to drive?" Zane asks, leaning forward to hold onto the dashboard as I swerve to narrowly avoid a pedestrian.

"Why do you keep letting me drive?" I huff, annoyed at his outburst. I may have been living in London for two years now but I was still trying to get used to the driving aspect. It just felt like everyone went whenever they wanted to.

"I keep hoping you've figured out how to drive, stop going so goddamn fast," Zane said, raising a hand to his forehead as I turned the corner. I normally drove a lot slower but Zane and I were both late to meet some lawyers from another firm this morning.

When I moved here I was insistent I didn't want to work at Zane's firm, I wanted us to have separate work schedules. Instead, I worked at an equally ranked firm, that happened to have a very good relationship with Zane's firm.

It didn't happen too often but occasionally cases at Zane's firm would be taken on by mine and we'd get to work together, only we weren't going to be making a very good impression if we both pulled up to the meeting late.

"Whatever," I muttered, resting my hand on the steering wheel. The diamond on my ring finger twinkled in the sunlight streaming in through the windows. Zane had proposed to me on our trip to Amsterdam only two months prior.

"When was it that we started dating officially?" I asked suddenly, thinking back to those years ago when I'd first moved to London. Moving to London for a guy you'd been on two dates with sounded insane, then again, for Zane Ivory, I'd have moved anywhere.

"Two months after you moved here," Zane said, turning his head to look at me, "After our fourth date."

I smiled at the memory, we'd gone together to watch a movie. It was a horror film and I insisted I had to sleep with Zane, I didn't get to go back to my apartment for a week I was scared shitless.

"Did you invite Josh over for dinner like I asked?" I ask him, sighing a breath of relief when I realise for once there's no traffic in the city to make us even more late.

Zane shook his head, "He couldn't, something about Teddy having a clarinet practice he had to go to."

I rolled my eyes, "I've heard that kid play the clarinet, why would Josh ever subject himself to listening to that?"

Zane laughs, shaking his head as he looks out the window, "I don't know baby, comes with the job of being a dad. Maybe one day I'll get to know what that's like." He adds, looking all saddened and dramatic. I swear the sun even disappears behind the clouds as if on his side.

"I told you we can talk about it after we're married," I tell him, rolling my eyes again. I was going to give myself a headache one of these days.

"You don't want a bastard baby with me?"

"I'm all for the process of making a baby without having one," I say, laughing a little bit. Zane and I both holler when we finally see my firm. I park the car and we both grab our bags before running out of the car and running inside.

Natasha, my boss stands in the foyer tapping her foot. She turns around and sees us before raising a perfect eyebrow, "Ten minutes late, what's your excuse?"

We were fucking.

"Both of our alarms didn't go off, I'm so sorry," I tell her with an apologetic smile. Natasha sighs, not believing us as she sends us over to the conference room. Zane laughs all the way there while I shake my head at him, embarrassed.

We push open the door, putting both of our game faces on as the two lawyers turn around and give us a once over, "I'm Ryan and this is Jillian from Walter Iron, we're representing Sadie Tilvers."

Zane and I nod, as we sit down, "I'm Juliette Castalia this is Zane Ivory."

Both of the lawyers opposite us pale as they give us a once over, "Well fuck," Jillian mutters.

Indeed, we were going to drag them through hell.
