I was putting the finishing touches on my outfit for the dance, my heart fluttering with a mix of excitement and nerves. The phone call had caught me completely off guard-a genuine offer to write songs for musicals in the heart of NYC. It was a dream come true, a chance to showcase my talents on a bigger stage. But beneath the thrill of the opportunity was a familiar worry that gnawed at my thoughts.

The last time something like this had come up, it led to a temporary breakup with Ben. The memory of that painful period made me hesitate, wondering if history was destined to repeat itself. I couldn't bear the thought of losing him again, not after everything we had been through.

As I entered the bustling dance hall, the energy was contagious. Will was in his element, flaunting his hilarious dance moves and getting Yasmin to burst into fits of laughter. I couldn't help but smile at the sight, their connection so evident and heartwarming.

Amidst the laughter and music, Ben and I found ourselves dancing in our own little world. The twinkle lights overhead seemed to dance along with us, and his hand in mine felt like a promise of forever. It was during a quiet moment in the hallway, though, that I knew I had to share the news with him.

Taking a deep breath, I turned to him, my heart pounding. "Ben," I began, "there's something I need to tell you."

His eyes softened, his gaze unwavering. "What's on your mind?"

I took a steadying breath, my fingers nervously playing with the hem of my dress. "I got an offer to write songs for musicals in NYC," I blurted out, watching his expression closely for any signs of concern.

At first, his eyebrows furrowed as he processed the information. And then, to my surprise, a smile spread across his face. He stepped closer, his hand finding mine and squeezing it gently. "That's amazing, Gabi. Congratulations!"

I blinked, taken aback by his reaction. "You're not mad?"

He chuckled softly, his thumb tracing soothing circles on the back of my hand. "Mad? Why would I be mad? I couldn't be more happier for you, Gabi. I lost you once, and I'm not about to let that happen again."
