"Liz?" Ashley asked. I turned to see her in the doorway of the cabin. "You okay?"

I nodded. "Yeah, just got up a little early. Thought I'd see the sunrise."

She eyed my backpack. "What's with the bag?"

I nudged it with my foot. I had packed it with the essentials, food, water, extra clothes, mortal and demigod money, my bow, quivers, my net arrows. One way or another I wouldn't be coming back to camp.

"There's something I gotta do," I said. I looked up to see Insley and Malcolm had joined her in the threshold. "Back in St Louis."

"You're really going back?" Malcolm asked.

"Just... just for a few hours," I replied. "I don't plan on staying." I took the buisness card out of my pocket. I ran my thumb over the writing. It was crude, uneven, like the person writing was unfamiliar with the language.

"But it's something I have to do. So I'm going."

"Are you sure about this?" Chiron asked.

I nodded. "I am."

He still looked unsure. "You don't have to go. I understand you have... complications with your mortal parent."

"One of the reasons I'm going," I said. "Sort it out, get it done with."

Chiron seemed to understand that. "Well I hope you return quickly my dear."

I looked down Half-Blood Hill at the valley below. The strawberries were still blooming, creating that fragrance I had grown to love. The cabins laid out, so many I had built myself. The canoe lake. The dining pavilion we all helped rebuild. The amphitheater. The woods. The Pegasi stables.

I felt my throat close up, tears stem in my eyes. It felt like I was saying goodbye to an old friend. Or like I was leaving home.

"Elizabeth?" Chiron asked.

I took a breath and forced down the lump in my throat. "I'm fine."

"Liz?" A voice called. I turned and saw Nico walking over. Chiron moved to help Austin and Kayla with their bags. "What's going on?"

"Going to St Louis," I replied. "Got something I need to take care of."

"Why didn't you tell us?" Nico asked.

"Kind of a last minute thing," I said. "My flight back to Manhattan gets in tomorrow morning. I'll be alright."

He eyed my bag, his eyes going to Terrorem on my hip.

"If you're sure," he said.

I nodded. "I am. If you need me, IM me." I turned and walked down the hill. I went to where Argus was driving demigods to the airport in Manhattan. I sent a wave to Will. Then I stepped in and closed the door.

Lafayette Square wasn't very big. A few blocks at most. But at the centre was Lafayette Park which hosted concerts, baseball games, and outdoor movies. Around the outside were old Victorian houses that had coffee shops, Italian restaurants and wine bars.

I was always a little intimidated of this place as a kid. It was where the adults went, it wasn't a place for kids.

I guess that's why Angelica moved here. No more kids to worry about, she could be an adult again.

I paid the cabbie and got out of the taxi. It drove off around the corner. I pulled the business card out of my pocket and checked it. The address had changed, giving me a street address. I followed it to one of the old Victorian houses with a coffee shop in the bottom floor. I looked around and saw a door to the side with mailboxes for apartments.
