Leo
I was brought back into my previous cell with the rest of the boys an hour or so after Clarisse had left. The guards were rather rough with me- something I did not appreciate- leaving several bruises on my arms and legs but that wasn't anything that would be life threatening.
"Clarisse, she was there" I said, sitting down next to Frank and Jason. Everyone was awake now, but we all looked like hell.
"Any ideas on our grand escape Valdez?" asked Percy. I frowned, looking around for something to get us out of here.
"I could try the lock, anyone have any weapons?" I asked, standing up and walking over to the door. "I've got the Riptide but other than that, we have nothing" said Percy.
"I would control the winds but I can't until we get above deck, the air in here is too thin" said Jason. "I have the water but despite us being on a boat, I can't do much with it" said Percy.
"Fire, I've got fire" I said with a grin. "So the problem is, we can get out of the cell, but what do we do after that?" Said Percy.
"I could change into a cockroach or something, see if I can't find an exit while you wait in here" said Frank. "No, what if they come back and notice you're gone? Can you even walk?" Said Jason.
"Honestly, we could just wing it. We've had a lot of success with that in the past, I don't see why we can't pull it off now" I said. The boys all looked at each other in agreence.
"Do your thing Mr. MuscleMan" said Frank, gesturing to the door. I grinned and put my hand on the look. Closing my eyes to concentrate, I began to feel the mechanisms all locked into place. Slowly, I moved each piece, one after the other until finally, the door was unlocked.
"Sirs" I said, giving them all and exaggerated bow while holding the door open for them. They all stood up, Percy helping Frank, and walked out the door.
The hallway was dark and smelled of dead rats and mold. Water was leaking from pipes and all the porthole were covered in black paint.
"Leo, you wanna feel the boat up, see if you could find the exit?" Asked Percy who had his sword out. I fought back a suggestive grin - it took all of my self control to not say 'thats what she said'. I ignited my hands, so we could see and walked over to the side of the ship.
The metal was cold to my touch which was unsettling. This ship was so old, there was no way these engines had been used in a long time, I doubted that they could even work.
This of course, made it much harder but I was able to find the exit with my mad skills. We made our way down the narrow paths sloqly and with extreme caution. We had no idea how many soldiers Clarisse had or if they were mortals or not.
Of course (because something always goes wrong at the absolute worst moments possible every time because this is a work of fiction and I have to keep the readers interested), we heard loud laughter coming from the other room.
"Frank!" exclaimed Jason in a harsh whisper. Frank nodded and he slwoly morphed into a little black mouse. Frank scurried off down the hall to see what was going on. I placed my hand onto the wall, to see what room they were laughing from.
I gasped. In the room next to us, there was the armoury - something we definitely needed (because they are the good guys and everything seems to work out in their favor so thats why I let them have weapons, totally a coincidence).
"Guys" I said, motioning them to follow. I opened the door and they all followed me inside. The room was well lit compared to the rest of the ship. The walls were lined with both demigod weapondry as well as mortal guns.
While Percy and Jason were getting more gear, I grabbed some of my own. I took a battle axe, a bullet-proof (or as Annabeth calls it 'idiot-proof') as well as a pistol, just incase.
Jason took an extra crossbow and some arrows for Frank ans we were off. Once out in the hall, the black mouse that was Frank, can running down the hall. Frank formed back into his usual massive self and Jason handed him the crossbow and arrows which Frank seemed to enjoy although it was hard to tell with his emotionless asian baby face.
"Guards are coming, maybe 2 minutes out. They stopped to refill on bullets" said Frank. I gulped, bullets are not fun. Despite being a mortal weapon, it didn't mean that demigods are still immune to it. Quite frankly, I found it unfair that our weapns didn't work on mortals but theirs did on us. Can't it all be equal?
Just then, a stammped of guards rounded the corner, guns a blazin'. "Two minutes huh Frank" I said, giving him a look. Frank just gulped, but I'm sure we all did at that point.
***Short chapter but I thought I'd update since I have failed to do so recently. Sorry for such the long wait, and for such the short chapter and for the cliffhanger. Okay, so I wanted this book to be funnier than the previous ones because its Leo and in an effort to do so, I've added my sassy commentary throughout the chapter. Do you like it? Is is funny or just annoying? Should I continue to do so or stop? Idk. Let me know. I love you little demigods! -Izzy
