Chapter 15

Calypso

I walked down the long narrow hallways of the Argo II. I hadn't been aboard since the miscarriage. My last memory here was when Jason found me in the hall. That was the moment everything had changed. 

"Hey there" a voice. I turned and saw Leo standing there in the doorway. His hair was messy and he had grease on his face. "Shouldn't you be, I don't know, flying the ship?" I asked. Leo shrugged. "If anything goes wrong, I'll get back to it. Lift off was sucessfull, we should be across the country and in the West Coast in a few hours" he said crossing his arms. 

"Oh, thats good" I said, not sure what else today. "Yeah, lets just hope nothing happens between here and Russia" he said softly. "Don't jinx it" I laughed. Leo gave me an awkward smile and I stopped. "I'll um, see you around" I said, turning to walk away. "I- uh" Leo said, walking after me. I turned as he touched my shoulder. 

"I love you" he said, pausing between "love" and "you. I just smiled and nodded. I didn't have anything else to say to him as I turned and left him alone in the hall. I walked briskly away from him, heading towards the bathroom. 

I locked myself inside, tears running down my face. I stopped and looked at myself in the mirror. I didn't recgonize the person staring back at me. My hair was more white than blonde, I had bags under my eyes, my once bright and lively blue eyes were now a pale, lifeless shadow. 

I couldn't take it, I turned away from the mirror, unable to look at myself. I sobbed into my hands. What had this marriage turned me into? I was an empty shell of who I used to be. I couldn't even tell my own husband I loved him. There was nothing left for me here.

 I longed to be back home on my island. There, despite having my heart broken again and again, I could always put it back together. Here, I was too broken to even put back together.

Leo

There was a time when we were so in love. When we were just full of it. I guess we just used it up too fast. All our love was gone. 

I stood in the living room, watching the group talk and chat. Thalia was talking with Frank and Calypso was with another camper. 

Piper came from across the room and sat next to me. "It's not your fault" she said, watching them with me. "What isn't?" I asked. "It's okay. I don't blame you or think you're a terrible person. Love is tricky and you're doing the best you can. Calypso and you fell in and out of love, it happens" she said. I turned and looked at her. "But why us?" I asked softly. 

"You weren't destined to be together. Things change and now your story is meant to be tied with another" she said. I looked over to Thalia. "For whats its worth, you're not a coward for not telling Calypso. You're human" she said. Before I could ask her anything else, she got up and left. 

That night, when everyone had gone to bed, I couldn't sleep. Calypso laid, sleeping next to me. I felt like a bandit laying next to her. I shoudn't be here. 

Careful not to wake her, I got up. The second I got out of the room, I bolted to the top deck. I couldn't stop running, I ran straight to the bow and caught myself on the railing. I hung there, letting the wind hit my face. 

Then, I did the unthinkable. I jumped. Flames errupted from my hands and feet, rocketing me through the air. At first, I was terrified and confused. Once I realized what the hell was going on, I felt myself relax. 

I let the wind and the open air flow through my hair. I shot through the night sky, doing flips and tricks. "Woohoo!" I screamed. Spreading my arms and letting myself plummet towards the ground. Just before I would have face planted, I swooped up and rocketed towards the ship, flying high above. I finally felt free up here. 

***Plot twist, Leo can fly. This is becoming more and more like Avatar the last Airbender. Question: would you read a book with Percy (water) Jason (air) Leo (fire) Hazel (earth) as the avatars? I would. Maybe I'll write a little something like that. Still team Caleo or are you moving more towards Thaleo? I love you little demigods! -Izzy
