Morpheus
I sat back not speaking as they all discussed the images Victor had seen and I then shared with the entire family - even their adult children at their request. There had been lots of yelling, crying, cursing, and every emotion imaginable as they processed the implications of what could have been. And just like her fathers, Lochlyn asked about the future. Only I didn't have to answer this time, Sean did.
"He can't tell you that, sweetie. When we get visions, they aren't set. Even your mom only sees possibilities."
I cleared my throat, "Well, that isn't exactly correct, Sean. Just like Victor saw multiple possibilities of the past, I see all of them. I see what could have been and a million what could be options. It allows me to have a small indication of what is coming usually, but the caveat is when we know the potential future, we tend to alter it - even when we don't want to."
"What the fuck does that mean?" Michael asked.
I chuckled at his colorful language - just like Gabriel. "It means if I tell you that you're going to meet your soulmate in March, you would spend the entire month looking for them and might mistake someone for them, or you might change your plans and go somewhere you normally wouldn't and miss meeting them all together. When we know the future we have a bad habit of trying to force it to happen sooner or the way we want it."
"He can't tell us what's coming, baby," Eveleen told her son who frowned and muttered about stupid rules. His aura was almost as bright as his mother's. I wonder if anyone has told him about Michael's own gifts. Odin made a grunting noise and shook his head at me. Well, guess that answers that question. I really don't want to be around when they find out he's just like his father. The look on Odin's face told me he already knew Eveleen was going to hand him his ass. Of course, I already knew the poor kid would experience a near-death moment when he found out. Then again, it's also when he meets his soulmates. What I know and what I can tell them are two different things. Her eyes met mine - I know you can't tell me anything, but please don't ever lie to me, she asked in my mind.
Never, little star. I will always share what I can, and I will never lie to any of you. Her eyes watered as she gave me a soft smile and bowed her head in acknowledgment.
"So where does that leave us?" Owen asked, his fingers intertwined with Sean's.
"The decision is one for your family," I replied. "I will not overstep my bounds without the full consent of all of you - and that includes the children."
"Good thing we're all here then," he said, "We don't hide things from each other, so your Papa Sean and I want to voice our desires. We would like to welcome Morpheus into our family. Shout out what you think - good or bad."
A few of the kids expressed concerns similar to Kota and Victor's worries, but mostly they were content to leave the decision to their mother and fathers. Jackson and Zoran were more worried about welcoming Demios, but Abellona spoke. "I know you can't tell us everything, but can you at least tell us if our fathers are going to come back to us?" she asked.
I gave her a hopeful smile, "While I can't guarantee they will return, I can say one path shows them safe and home with an interesting set of new abilities. I will also say you will have your answers soon. Do not lose hope Abellona. You have many great adventures ahead of you." Her eyes watered as she flung her arms around me.
"Thank you," she whispered. "But if you hurt my mama or daddies, I'll blast your ass into ashes."
I let out a laugh and returned the hug, "I have no doubt you will. You are the destroyer of darkness after all." She jerked her head up and gasped. "Oh, child, do not fear. You will live up to your name, just like your mother you are light and dark. You have your father's gift, but stronger. One day you will know your strength."
"Again with the cryptic messages," Eveleen laughed, rolling her eyes as several variations of "that's one" sounded from myself and her husbands. The children all just groaned and made annoyed sounds including one of them shouting get a room.
She gave me a cheeky grin and took my hand, "Maybe we should get a room."
"Ahem, about that," I started, then felt a wave of magic roll through me. My mind flooded with visions and I must have stumbled because they all looked at me with concern. "Sorry about that. Um, we do need some privacy though." I looked up at Victor and Gabriel, sending them a quick version of what was about to happen.
"Okay kids, parents only, now scoot!" Victor said, handing Ash to his sister, Pandra, while Owen handed Idris to Lochlyn. Once they had all left, the two sealed the room as I led Eveleen to a seat.
"You need to find Corey and Raven now, little star," I told her.
Her eyes went wide, "Now?"
"Yes, now. Erebus plans to kill them to lure you out."
