New Job

Melissa's POV:

When I reach the office building, my boss hasn't arrived yet and I'm happy because I'll have to do something before we leave.

"I HATE SURPRISES!!!" I had told him but he just smirked and walked out of the office.

He's so annoying sometimes, and for that Kimberly, I'm glad that the feeling is mutual. She hates me and I don't like her.

"good morning Melissa." Henry greets me once I step out of the elevator.

"good morning, how are you?" I greet him back.

Henry is such a good guy and I'm happy that him and Charlie are a thing now, they just look so good together.

"not really fine, can I ask you something?"

I nod my head, "what do girls like the most? I mean, I want to get Charlie a gift but I don't even know where to begin from. Help me."

"that's very sweet of, I'm not so sure about Charlie but most girls tend to like things like chocolate, flowers and I'm one of them!" I let out a small chuckle, "girls like to go out on dates and they love attention so I guess you can buy her flowers and chocolate, take her out for dinner and finally show her the ring." I laugh at the end.

"that's a good idea Melissa, I've thought about it multiple times now. I really want to propose to her on her birthday. What do you think?"

"that would be great Henry!"

"thank you." he smiles.

"hmm, just remember to give me updates."

"of course, I better go now."

"me too." we part ways.

Before I even have the chance to walk into my boss' office, I hear footsteps coming.

"Melissa Becker." Adrian calls my name.

I cross my arms over my chest and furrow my brows, "is that how you greet someone?"

"Did I say I wanted to greet you? I just called your name."

"exactly, you should learn to greet people before anything else."

"oh, is that so Melissa.." he starts moving forward and I step backwards until my back meets the door.

Please someone to save me!!!

"you.. you should.."

"Shhh.." he puts his index finger on my lips to shush me.

He's so close, I step backwards again but the door slams open and I lose my balance.

Bad idea.

Before my body can collide with the floor, I feel Adrian's arm around my waist preventing me from falling and it gives me a sense of protection. I inhale his male scent, a combination of fresh cologne and musk. He is indeed an attractive man with a beautifully proportioned body.

Stop it!!!

Suddenly, I feel nervous when his eyes meet mine and I feel like fainting.

He helps me stand straight and I instantly take a step backwards, "are you okay now?"

I nod my head and walk into his office with a smile I didn't realize on my face.

"cancel all my schedules for today, we have to be somewhere important." Adrian speaks from behind.

I face him and my heart drops to my stomach when I find him shaking his head with his eyes closed.

What is wrong with him?
