"Anne of Green Gables. You and me... we're gonna talk."
Said Billy Andrews, appearing from behind a tree and standing menacingly in Anne's path.
"You said some pretty nasty stuff about my sister."

"Who's your sister?"
Anne asked, clearly scared and confused, stepping back a bit as Billy advanced.

"Prissy Andrews, dummy."

"I'm sure I didn't mean to be nasty."

"Is that why she was crying all night?"
Billy asked, sarcastically.
"My parents say that's slander. You wanna get slandered?"
His tone was getting progressively more aggressive and as a result, Anne was becoming ever increasingly scared.

"Sorry, I truly meant no harm.-"
Billy chuckled dryly, as the two came to a halt.

"I'm gonna teach you a lesson, Fido."

"What seems to be the problem here?"
Came a voice.

Both parties snapped their heads to the left.

A girl with H/C, S/C skin, E/C eyes and a cold expression approached.

Billy glared.

"Stay out of this, L/N."

"You see, I would, but- well- I don't exactly trust this situation to be civil based on what I've already heard."
The girl, L/N, replied in a level, but frightening voice.

"You'd better watch yourself, L/N, or-"
Just as Billy set his sights on her, turning away from Anne in order to walk the girl's way instead, another voice

"Hey, Billy!"
Another person, a boy this time, appeared a few feet behind Billy, causing everyone to turn that way as he came closer, a concerned look on his face.
"How's it going?"

"Hey, Gilbert."
Replied Billy, awkwardly, looking away from the girls.

"Man, it's... it's, um, it's good to be back."
The boy, Gilbert said, casually, placing his hands on his hips.

"Uh... yeah... yeah, welcome back."
Billy said, stumbling on his words slightly.

"Yeah, it's good to see you, buddy."
Gilbert said, brightly, as if oblivious to the clear tension in the air. Though the expression on his face said otherwise.

"So you guys playing a game or something? Right?"
He asked, looking at the girls.

Anne still looked terrified, whereas the H/C girl kept her cold expression, crossing her arms.

Gilbert shifted to stand between the girl and Billy, standing directly in front of him.

"Looks fun, but we should probably get to school, eh?"
Gilbert questioned.
"Hate to be tardy. Mr Phillips sure gets his dander up about that."
The tension was thick in the air.

"Yeah. I was just about to get going."
Billy replied, moving to leave.
He turned to Anne and said
"See ya there."

Gilbert watched closely as Billy left, and once he made sure he was out of earshot, Gilbert turned to Anne and asked

"You all right, miss?"

"School..."
Anne muttered, seemingly coming to her senses, quickly dropping to the floor and gathering her items, the E/C-eyed girl helping before stepping away.

"You're welcome."
Gilbert said as Anne walked briskly past him, the L/N girl gave him a look, scoffing and walking past him, clipping him with her shoulder.

"Need anything else? Any dragons around here need slaying?!"
Gilbert yelled after them, mostly in an effort to irritate the H/C girl. It worked.

"No, thank you!"
Anne replied, still rushing as the other girl rolled her eyes, not gracing him with a response, even though they now walked side by side as the boy insisted on matching the girl's pace no matter how many times she changed it.
