Thursday 20th July 2023

Sienna POV

'Hey, there you are! The blue and white suits you'

Daniel had invited me to watch the race with Heidi this weekend but not from the Red Bull garage, after Silverstone he'd been given the Alpha Tauri seat.

'Does it bring out my eyes?' he chuckles.

I roll my eyes, ignoring his question. 'How does it feel, knowing you'll be racing this weekend?' I ask.

'Honestly? It feels amazing. I can't wait to get back out there.' You can tell by the fact he can't stop smiling. 'How are you doing? You seem happier'.

'Yeah, I'm doing good. I feel that Lando has thawed slightly. I saw him this morning and he didn't immediately turn in the opposite direction and he even said hi. That's progress right?'

'Just don't push him to give you anymore than he's ready for. I spoke to Max and he said Lando's still heartbroken and not ready to have a conversation yet. Although it does sound like he might be open to it at some stage.' He pulls me in for a side hug.

'I'll take whatever I can get' I sigh. 'I know I hurt him, he has every right to be mad at me until the end of time. I just wish I knew how it happened. I still don't remember'

'Mmmmm' is all he says but he looks deep in thought. I nudge him to bring him back to the room.

'Where's Heidi?' I hadn't seen her in a while and was looking forward to catching up.

'She doesn't arrive until tomorrow. So you're stuck with me until then.'

'Urgh!' I laugh. 'I suppose you'll have to do!'

Lando POV

It looks like it'll be another good weekend for me. I'm still on a bit of a high following my P2 at Silverstone and the car feels just as good here, although the lower speed corners wont suit the car, I'm tentatively optimistic about another podium. I even said Hi to Sienna again this morning. I feel lighter not having to avoid her. I'm not ready to say anymore than a few words to her yet, and we'll never get back to where we were, but it would be nice to be able to talk to her. She was my best friend for 6 years, I've lost that too.

'Fuck!'

'That's P3, that's P3'

'Disappointing. I'm sorry it wasn't a good enough lap' I can't keep the frustration out of my voice. I'm so annoyed with myself.

'Ok mate, no worries we can work with that' I love how they try and keep positive but that really isn't what I need right now.

'I wanna be on pole, I don't wanna be on P3' God how times have changed. At the start of the year I would have done anything to be starting P3, but now.... I just feel that I made too many mistakes on my lap and allowed Max and Lewis to gain the advantage. I've now given myself everything to do tomorrow.

Lando POV

I glance over to the car next to me, Oscar's helmet just about visible. I need to get a good start to stay ahead of him. I may hate him but I can't deny what a good driver he is, he's really pushing me this year.

I focus on the lights ahead watching them go on, column by column until they're all red. I can almost hear Crofty in my head as the lights go out and I slam foot down onto the accelerator.
