Your dad had forbidden Cameron from dating you, saying that nobody - most certainly not him - was good enough for you. He initially lost all hope, until Patrick decided to give him a pep talk.

"Listen to me. Don't let anyone, ever, make you feel like you don't deserve what you want. (Y/N) is a good girl and you're a good guy. You both deserve each other."
"But her dad - "
"Screw the man!" Patrick cut him off. "Just tell me one thing. Is she worth all the trouble?"
"She's worth all the trouble and more."
Patrick now stopped speaking and, instead, placed a hand on each of Cameron's shoulders and span him around. He was confused at first, until he saw you. He gulped nervously, but Patrick patted him on the back.
"Now, it's your turn. I've messed up with Kat at the moment, so maybe I could learn a lesson from you. Go show me how you get the girl."
