Every night after that, the Grievers always came and took kids one by one just like Gally had said. I was beginning to become very afraid that I'd be taken too. One night, I was asleep in Thomas's arms when I felt him suddenly jump up.
This caused my sleeping state to form back into my consciousness. I saw Thomas running out of the Homestead so I chased after him, yelling his name. That was when I saw a Griever come after him. I was frozen.
I wailed Thomas's name and for him to run while he still could, but he just stood there. The Griever raised its long tail up and stabbed its stinger into Thomas's torso. I screamed as loud as I could and ran after him. All of the Grievers retreated back into the Maze, leaving me an emotional mess.
Thomas was laying on the ground, unconscious. I raced over to him and kneeled down beside him. Tears leaked down my cheeks and I was begging for Thomas to wake up. Other Gladers gathered around and the Med-jacks took him to the Med-hut.
They took care of him there and it wasn't until a few days later he woke up, sweaty and gasping for breath. I was suffering the entire time he was asleep. He was screaming out in agony and I couldn't do anything to help him. I felt so guilty for letting that happen.
Once he woke up, I immediately rushed over to his side and bombarded him with questions. He told me that he remembered so many things, and that one of them was a way to escape the Maze with the papers in the Map room.
I was overjoyed, and he called a Gathering to talk about it once he realized what he remembered was true. While I was waiting, I was sitting on a bench in the Glade with Teresa in a comfortable silence.
Thomas eventually came out and jogged over to Teresa and I.
"Hey, Tom. What'd they say?" I asked
"They said I'd have to convince everyone to come with us, but I'm sure I can."
He smiled at me and turned to Newt and Minho, who were exiting the Homestead. After a long day of convincing Gladers to go into the Maze at night when the so-called 'Griever Hole' would be safest for us all to escape, most of them agreed.
We all got weapons and backpacks to leave for the Maze.

The sun was setting over the Walls of the Maze, and I was taking one last final look over my little home. This is the last time I'll be here.
I crossed my arms and looked over everything, wanting to remember every little detail. I heard footsteps and I turned to my left and saw Thomas looking around. He looked back at me and then everything I'd managed to build.
"You ever gonna miss this place?" He asked. I scoffed. "Being stuck in the Maze? No. Everything I've managed to build? Maybe."
Thomas nodded. I walked over to him and hugged his waist and buried my face in his chest.
"C'mon, the others are waiting for us," Thomas murmured into my hair. He pulled away from the hug and gave me one long passionate kiss on the lips, until he let go and intertwined his fingers with mine as we set off for the Maze.
