I softly kissed Y/N and held her hand as we jogged out of the Deadheads. Half of the Gladers were at the Door waiting for us. We made it down to Newt and Minho, when Minho wanted to give a speech.

"Be careful. Don't die," He said. Y/N started giggling as Newt shook his head.

"Great, we're all bloody inspired."

Y/N checked her watch behind me. "The Doors will close soon," She said.

I nodded and squeezed her hand reassuringly. Everyone who was coming with us stepped out into the Maze when we heard a rumble under our feet, and the sound of stone against stone.

When Y/N and I turned around, we were met with the closed Door.

It's time. "Follow me," I announced. I sprinted down corridor after corridor, looking for the Cliff. I just had to hope that the Griever Hole is what would get us to escape, and not send us to our deaths. I needed to get Y/N out of there, no matter the cost.

After a little while, we came face to face with the corridor that led us to the Cliff. Y/N limped to my side and glanced at me. Our attention was ripped away from us when we heard a loud groan and the sound of metal against stone.

I turned to my right and there stood a Griever. But not just one. There were others behind it.

I looked ahead and saw Grievers in front of us, blocking our path to the Cliff and the Griever Hole. Grievers were on our left but I didn't bother looking. I knew we were surrounded.

I had to pray that the rule of Grievers taking one kid a night was still a rule. Y/N whimpered and took out one of her arrows, aiming them at a Griever. Alby came up to my side with a look. He was looking at the Grievers with an odd expression.

He then started jogging forward. I then knew what Alby was going to do. He was going to sacrifice himself.

The Grievers charged at him and stabbed him with one of their long, metal legs. All I saw was blood smeared across the floor. It didn't do anything, and his sacrifice had failed miserably.
