Newt's POV:

Yesterday we had a greenie come up, so naturally I was just as shocked as everyone else when we heard the box alarm. I followed everyone else to the box, as fast as I could with my limp. Once I got to the box hole, people were already crowded around it, and I had to shove my way through. I stood next to Alby, and when the box arrived he gave me a little shove in the direction of the box.

"Go get your new greenie."

I sighed. Somewhere along the way, I had become the welcome committee. This meant that I had to get the terrified greenie out of the box, show them around, and answer their million questions. Then again, I was virtually the only original glader with any sense of patience. I jumped down into the box, and headed for the corner of the box, where I could hear fast breathing.

"Okay, you can come out, we won't hurt you."

When nothing happened, I approached the corner, and as I got closer, the shadows seemed to shift, and I could see the face of our new boy.

It took me a minute to realize it wasn't a boy.

It was a girl.

Her (Y/H/C) hair seemed to frame her face, and her (Y/E/C) eyes were darting everywhere. Frypan must have noticed how I froze up.

"Well? What the shuck is it?"

I turned to face the crowd

"I-It's a girl."

The reaction was instant, and mixed. Half the boys stepped back, looking scared, while the other boys took a step forward, looking interested.

I ignored them, and took a few steps forward, held out my hand to her, and said in the kindest voice I could manage right now

"Love? Will you come out? No one will hurt you, everyone is really nice here. . ."

As the girl reluctantly took my hand and stood up, some of the boys started to whistle. I turned to them with a look that said 'shut up now, or else.'

No one acknowledged my look.

Just as I was about to help the girl out of the box, she jumped on top of some boxes, before climbing over the top. I guess she didn't need help. Once she got out, she almost immediately backed away from the crowd, and looked terrified. Alby started talking to her, but didn't approach her.

"It's okay. You're safe now. You're in the glade."

She spoke for the first time

"W-What?"

Her voice wasn't weak, like she had been crying. It was strong, and laced with worry. I was still standing where I had climbed out of the box, just staring at her, what just happened still sinking in.

It was a girl.

For the first time ever, we got a bloody girl!

Alby elbowed me

"Well, go ahead."

"What?"

Alby nodded towards the girl

"Show her around."

Oh right. I was in charge of showing the greenies around, and she was a greenie. I carefully approached her, and was relieved to see that she didn't look as scared. She was looking around in curiosity.

"Um, Hello. I'm Newt. Welcome to the glade."

She was slightly shorter than me, and she looked up at me.
