((Yes, this is part two to Fading Memories, and I would recomend reading it before reading this one, just so you can fully understand this one)))
After you woke up, you had gotten the tour of what you learned to call the glade.
For some reason, none of it seemed too surprising.
Almost like you. . .knew what the glade was, what it was meant for, who it was meant for, and why it was there.
You had gone through most of the training days as a slopper, cook, and track-hoe, and even though there were still more jobs you had to try, you somehow knew they wouldn't work, they just wouldn't fit.
But . .
But runner would.
You knew runner would fit.
Another bit of being a runner appealed to you.
Sure, you could run, you could map, you could do all that, but it was Thomas, the newest runner, that intrigued you.
Something about him. . .
You couldn't put your finger on it.
It was this. . .feeling in the back of your mind.
It almost felt like a sort of itch, begging for you to finally reach it, to finally understand it, to see it.
It was always there, always just out of reach.
Sometimes you almost pictured it, felt it moving up, slowly revealing itself.
The feeling was hard to describe.
It was like a black puddle, or a black stain, and it was creeping up and spreading out across your brain.
Except it wasn't really black.
It was a colorful black.
A colorful, memory-fragment filled black that would give you just enough to keep you wondering and to keep you scared.
So, Thomas. . .
Yes you would like to figure out what it was about him that brought the itchy blackness.
You had tried to get him to take you running so many times, ask so many times, but everytime he said no, that he wasn't supposed to take you.
Well, you thought as you watched the sunrise. This time I won't ask
You knew what time the runners got up, so you just get up a little before them, so you could catch Thomas, and-
There he was.
He was walking towards the kitchen, probably going to get the daily food the runners took out into the maze.
You ran up to him, hoping he might notice how you were, in fact, capable of running, and stopped directly in front of Thomas.
"So." You said, putting on what you guessed was a persuasively cute smile. "Are you going running?"
Thomas sighed.
"You know I am."
Your smile widened.
"You're right. I do!"
Thomas tried to sidestep you, but you blocked him.
"Let me guess," Thomas said. "You're going to ask to come running?"
