One and a half months since the war, but it was more like a battle. The king of dragons is onto us and I wouldn't consider that silly.

The gash on my stomach and knees are healing quickly and my fractured ankle still needs attention. I remember the throbbing pain that pulsed through me, setting my body on fire each time I tried to walk. After the healing of all the loyal soldiers, the Queen has invited all of us to the celebratory ball, which is precisely in one hour.

Father, Luci and I arrived in Kodurk last night. We couldn't stay away for long.

My pink, sparkly gown for tonight is off the shoulders and my hair is let down and in curls. I step out of the room and head to the ballroom, in search of my friends. Friends are a term I didn't know the meaning of. Maybe I still can't comprehend what it means to have a friend. But whatever I have with these people, I'm loving it.

The ballroom is full of life with people dancing to music in different ways and not in a uniform routine like last time. Some are eating their delicious dinner, some eating chocolate cakes and macarons. It's a beautiful chaos.

I spot Lucian and in his arms, Mayi, wearing her long red dress. He has his arm on her waist and is getting a strand of hair on her face. I immediately turn away and almost run into Adonis.

"So, ready to forgive me yet?" He asks. A smile tugs on my lips, involuntarily.

"No." I say, even though the truth is far from it. He saved us. He sent a letter to his mother that saved hundreds of us and even both our kingdoms. He's wonderful.

"I don't believe you." Now he returns the smile, his eyes crinkle at the edge and I've come to love it so much in the past few months.

"Are you not going to ask me about my hair cut?" He looked slightly hurt as he points up at his hair. My mouth hangs open,

"Noo. You lost your bun? Why did you cut it?" I reach up to touch his hair. And sure enough it feels just as silky as it seems to be.

He doesn't reply as he just looks at me with interest. What's this hold he has on me without even speaking to me?

"Leora..." He whispers. His sound imitating the one infront of the lake.

"You better spit it out, Adonis." I whisper back, holding back a giggle.

His hands cup my cheek and he tilts my head towards his. He leans in and,

"Leora. Good to see you." I almost get startled by hearing her voice after a month. Her voice is completely monotone. Her face more paler and dark circles surround her eyes.

Her long white hair is cut short to imitate a boy's cut. She looks so much like her mother, it's uncanny. Her  nose and eyes are red, and she fidgets with her fingers.

I give her a tight, warm hug. Losing the two people that dearly loved her in the same day is just tragic. Adonis comes by my side and takes ny hand in his. We stay silent for two whole minutes before Laylea pulls away and abruptly exits the ball room.

"We need to look after her." I say to Adonis while we eat our dinner.

He gives me a sad nod.

"But she said she's ready to fight. I hope you are?" He asks me.

The look on his face says he already knows the answer. The answer is yes. Yes I'm ready. I'm ready to meet the dragon giant and cut his head off.
