Huge veils of shadow covers us as we reach the clearing of the camp. Its glowing amber eyes narrow at us. The dragon is ashy white in colour with spikes all over the back like a mane and has a sharp tail that could kill within a touch.
It steps in, huge claws forward, talons scraping through some of the soldiers, it opens its mouth and smokes comes out. It's preparing to fire.
I whip out my sword, I don't know for what. I know I should aim at it's heart. But seriously, how?
"I'll distract it, run." Adonis says next to me .
"You're mad if you think it'll let us escape." I say.
I run to its side, hoping to find a nice spot to hide and jump when needed. Wyn charges at it with a javelin, behind him Laylea, Lucian and Mayi.
Tellia is at the inventory and is firing off the grenades and other explosives. She gathers more gunpowder in a hurry as only ten other soldiers seem to help her.
"NOOOO!!! WYN!" I turn back and look at the scene. A pile of black ash, lay on the ground right next to the big dragon. Laylea's knees fall into the ground. I sprint towards them and pull her down before the dragon fires again.
"I TOLD WYN IT WOULD FIRE BECAUSE OF THE SMOKE. HE DIDN'T LISTEN!!!" Mayi tells from behind me. Anger seethes through her. The beautiful girl with the dimple is gone, replacing her is a fierce woman with fire in her eyes and a ripped fore arm.
She catches me looking and says, "some of the soldiers on Gervic's side." as an explanation.
This is not fair. A war against our own. The dragon lets out a low growl and steps forward again, now wagging its dangerous tail.
All of run, Lucian carries Laylea on his shoulders as we run to the back of the dragon.
"Hasbach dragon. Dangerous tail and talons. Rip open its heart." Mayi says panting while we run.
"It's scales are thick as rocks and it has better brains than Feri or Tenghai. Hard to attack." I add on more information as we almost reach the tail.
A nauseating growl and a blow of fire.
BOOM. A grenade. And another. It lets out yet another growl from deep within. It's fire is blindingly white and illuminating. It whips its head in all directions while firing.
Lucian has let Lay down and is now using a spear to get on its tail. He managed to dodge the sharp end and made it to the middle. The dragon shudders. And Lucian falls. Right before he hits the tail, Mayi jumps to throw him off it. Both of now have a huge gash on their arms. And are bleeding through their outfits.
Adonis has shot one of its eyes and now its shuddering and shaking in pain. It scratches at the air and lets our fire yet again. One, two, three soldiers gone.
BOOM one more from Tellia.
THUD THUD THUD, the ground shudders, but not because of the the huge white dragon.
The ugliest looking Delphir walks in from the opposite side, its shy of three feet compared to the dragon. It walks over the inventory.
Tellia. I remember. I leave the crew here and use my full speed to reach the other side. The king of Delphir was supposed to be in the dry grasslands of the border. Arrows fly over my head to the Delphir. The Delphir lets out an ugly wail and charges at Tellia.
I reach her before that one does and it's stench is unbearable.
Tellia's left leg is crushed and blood is leaking from her smashed leg. She limps.
"Gervic... He..." She looks down, helpless. The inventory is destroyed, gunpowder everywhere.
"We need to-"
One swish and she's gone. A smaller delphir has run into the scene and grabbed her right from my grip.
It will not see mercy.
It has Tellia hanging in it's mouth while they one runs to the biggest Delphir. I use my full speed and full strength while I run and make the jump onto its back. I've practiced this a million times.
Stab, stab, stab and reach the head. I pierce its forehead. I pull it out, stab again. Maroon blood all over ny hands and face, some get into my mouth while I scream. I get down and the Delphir falls to the ground. I cut off its head.
Tellia lies lifeless in a pool of blood. Maroon and dark red. I can tell the difference. My eyes fill with water and my chest feels heavy. For Lay.
Adonis hits one eye, two eyes, three eyes. The Delphir staggers and staggers. Two more smaller ones run towards me. Easy and done in two minutes, three Bàms run at me. Three soldiers and me run through with our weapons. Weakest of all the creatures here.
I turn to look towards the Dragon. Thirty more smaller Delphirs surround it, the biggest one also present there. Lucian and the crew has climbed to the top of it, near the seating area where you can actually mount a dragon.
The smaller Delphirs and Gervic is now targetting all the helpless soldiers. Surrounding trees are on fire, bloody bodies are laying on the ground and their missing body parts splayed near them.
I notice the ground. Shadows swirling it. I look up. Relief floods through me. Three dargons circle the ground. I know who they are before they land.
The large black one mounted by my father in his strong metal armour, a smaller Blue one mounted by Daliya and a third Green one mounted by Zurko.
The two hundred fifty of the back up has arrived. Hope is there. Hope. Tellia and Wyn and the others didn't die for nothing. And I have to make sure of that.
