Xena's muscles noticeably clenched, her hands clutching her keyblades tightly in her grasp as the voice spoke all too calmly, as if the person it belonged to already knew they had victory in the palm of their hand.
The Nobodies slowly backed away, back outside and into the courtyard. This time, there were twice as many, and it was a mixed crowd, full of the regular white Dusks, but occasionally accented by a rouge Assassin, Gambler, or Sniper Nobody.
Right, some of the others are still alive. I guess they all teamed up to complete this little mission.
Taking the front, Mickey slowly followed the retreating group of Nobodies outside into the courtyard until the group stopped, the ground area now equal, giving both teams a fair playing field.
Sora and Riku were stood beside their King, while Kairi, the Wayfinder Trio, and Roxas and Xena were close behind. The other keyblade masters and trainee's were huddled right behind, taking their battle stances as both groups came to a stand-still.
Xena's eyes never left Xyla, locked in place. Xyla continued to look on back at Xena, the corner of her mouth hung up in an all-too-confident smirk. She heavily believed she would win this, and she made it obvious for all to see.
"Your confidence will be the end of you." Xena said as she spread her feet apart, returning her keyblades to their previous formation of Sora's Valor form.
Xyla smirked at that, glad to see Xena may finally be able to put up a decent fight against her this time.
"We'll be the only ones leaving here alive." A familiar voice spoke out from the crowd as the Nobodies shifted out of his way in response. Coming forward to stand beside Xyla, Vanitas' golden irises glided smoothly across the inferior group of heroes that stood before him, his own mouth lifted into a demeaning smirk as he scrutinized the bunch.
Xena's mouth dropped open a tad in shock, as she hadn't even remembered Vanitas existed. No memories of him had ever come forward back when they started to return, it was almost as if someone had locked them away specially, only able to resurface once she had laid eyes on him again.
He was the one i saw going into the portal back at school!
Xena scoffed as she glared daggers at the being made of pure darkness and negativity, realizing that the weight of this battle had just shifted entirely with his presence.
"Don't be so sure. Can't even summon your own Nobodies anymore, Xyla?"
"Neither can you, it seems. And with Vanitas here to join me, i won't be needing them." Xyla's head cocked to the side as she continued to gaze at Xena.
"No, i've just given up on relying on anyone else's strength besides my own!"
As she growled back, Xena lunged at Xyla, swinging both Oblivion and Oathkeeper in the same direction, but they both just ended up clashing against Xyla's own keyblade as she blocked.
This move started the whole war, and the keybladers decided to launch themselves at the enemy in unison, multiple Nobodies already dissipating into nothingness.
Xena saw a glint of black and red dash towards her, and she realized yet again, that she let her anger cloud her judgment, getting her into another tricky situation.
Much to Xena's amazement, a golden-headed boy suddenly appeared between her and Vanitas as he closed in on her, quickly blocking his attack and dishing out a quick one of his own in retaliation.
"You and me have some un-finished business." Ventus' voice came out coldly across the wind, laced with anger. Xena's eyes widened in shock at Ven's sudden change in demeanor, but she knew about their past, and completely understood the circumstances.
