Xena didn't even have to open her eyes, once the familiar beep of a heart monitor echoed into her ears, she knew exactly where she was.
She just laid there for a while, happy to just sit contently, pain free. Although at this point, she was pretty numb, and she assumed they'd probably had an IV in her arm again, giving her fluids and pain meds.
After a little while, she decided to crack open her eyes and take a look around. Much to her surprise, she was in the room alone. Not that it was a bad thing, she didn't mind being alone after the events that had just transpired. She flinched just thinking about the amount of pain she'd been forced to endure, and she quickly pushed the memory as far back into her mind as possible, her anxiety level still at an all-time high.
As she gave her body a quick look-over, realizing that she was covered in bandages and gauze, she heard foot steps outside her hospital door, and her gaze lazily took its time to look up at however it was.
"Hey, you're awake!" Ven's smiled seemed to brighten up the whole room, and he quickly leaned out into the hallway and called Roxas' name.
Xena laughed as both Roxas and Ven scrambled eagerly into the room, coming to a stop beside her bed.
"I swear, i should just live in a hospital." Xena gave a brief laugh as Roxas came over to her right side, dragging the doctor's chair over to him so he could sit beside her. Once he'd taken a seat, he held onto her hand with both of his, giving her a sweet smile, although Xena could see how exhausted he was, regardless of how hard he attempted to hide it.
"I'm glad you're okay, Ven." Xena smiled as wide as her drugged face would allow, her eyes drooping.
"What- Hey, no don't worry about me!" He laughed as a slight blush formed on his baby face, and he rested his hands on the back of his head, swaying slightly.
"When Vanitas got to me and i couldn't see you, i got worried." Xena struggled just forming sentences now, her body straining hard.
"He just knocked me out is all," he sent her a reassuring smile.
"You're the one you should be worrying about, you got roughed up worse than before..." His sentence faded off, and he scratched his cheek awkwardly, unsure of how to proceed.
Roxas exhaled deeply, deciding to take matters into his own hands.
"They want to keep you longer this time, apparently you make have some serious damage to a few of your organs, and the doctor refuses to release you until you're 100%."
That's honestly not as bad as i imagined.
Xena nodded, and groggily relaxed back into the bed.
"Then i'll just rest as much as i can, and do whatever they tell me to."
"That's my girl," Roxas leaned in to give her a peck on the cheek, and he brushed a few strands of hair out of her face and behind her ear.
Xena smiled at his warm touch, and decided to shut her eyes again, allowing the sweet embrace of sleep to take her.
