"What's up with you?" Came my brother's cool voice from across the living room.

He can tell something's wrong if i just BREATHE differently, huh..?

"Nothing." I replied quickly and calmly, but he knew me better.

"Mhmm." My phone was stolen from my hands, and there my brother stood, looking down at me with an eyebrow raised.
"Let's talk about it over dinner."

Sean was my care-taker since our parents divorce had sent my father states away and sent my mother back to her childhood home with her parents, so in order to try and keep me sane, my brother took me in so i wouldn't have to deal with the stress and heart-ache of moving schools. He took pretty good care of me for a 19 year-old who had a part-time job, a long-distance girlfriend and who was still a student in collage studying medical science.

He took me out to eat pretty often, because i had simple tastes and honestly, it was easier for both of us this way.

Once we were seated at one of my favorite resteraunts in town, i saw that familiar raise of his eyebrow. He didn't even need to ask again.

"I got in another fight." I huffed, ready to get chastised for an hour. But he simply nodded a few times quietly, browsing for his dinner in the menu.

"That's it..?" I questioned, my eyebrows raising this time.

Now he laughed. "Xena, i was a fighter in high school too. People are fucking retarded and some will only learn once you hit 'em once or twice. I'm proud of you for standing up for yourself. Keep up the good work as long as you aren't the one getting your ass kicked." He proceeded to laugh a bit harder, rolling his eyes. "Then again, you aren't exactly... Normal, so you won't get your ass kicked unless both your legs are broken, you aren't paying any attention whatsoever, or you're up against someone else like you. But the last one is kinda un-likely. Around here at least."
His eyes drifted around the large area full of couples and families enjoying their meals.

"Just be careful." Sean's voice lowered, and i had to lean in to hear him fully.

I nodded.

"Good job today." He smirked, raising a closed-fist to me.

I hit my fist against his, smiling proudly.

"Thanks bro..."
