Harry woke up at six on Saturday morning. Since Louis was still asleep, Harry pulled on some sweats and a hoodie and went out for an early morning jog.
It was a lovely morning with the potential of being great, at least weather-wise. He had no idea what mood Louis would be in.
Harry stopped by a grocery store on his way back to the apartment and bought Louis' favorite cereal, milk, and Yorkshire Tea.
As he unlocked the door to his apartment Louis stepped out of the guest bedroom, rubbing his eyes. His chest was bare and a pair of sweats were hanging lowly on his hips, revealing a string of hair on his lower tummy. Harry suddenly felt out of breath.
"Good morning, where have you been?" Louis asked."Out for a run." Harry informed him.
"Seriously? It's like seven o'clock in the morning, Hazza." Louis smiled.
"It's the best time for a jog. The streets are pretty empty. Here, I bought you some breakfast." Harry said and headed to the kitchen to unpack the groceries.
"Oh, that's sweet. You didn't have to do that." Louis replied behind him, following him into the kitchen.
"Well, I'm having avocado on toast. I figured you don't want that." Harry said.
Louis looked disgusted.
"You thought right."Harry giggled as he placed the bag on the counter and unpacked the few things he bought.
"Yorkshire? You even remember me favorite brand of tea?" Louis questioned."Yeah." Harry replied and filled the kettle with water.
"Funny thing, El and I have been together for five years and she still has no clue what kind of tea I like." Louis snorted.
"Oh." Harry replied, don't really knowing how to respond to that.
Louis grabbed a bowl and a spoon, along with the cereal and milk, and took a seat at the kitchen table. He poured cereal into the bowl and added milk before he picked up his phone. Harry made tea and toast in the meantime.
"There. I've ordered divorce papers." Louis said and put down his phone and took a spoonful of cereal."Are you sure? I mean, shouldn't you at least talk it through, maybe counseling would help?" Harry suggested.
"Nope. A text, Harry. A fucking text! I sure as hell don't want to be married to someone who ends our marriage in a text. Would you?" Louis huffed.
"No, I guess not." Harry agreed.
He made his avocado toast and placed a cup of tea in front of Louis before he took a seat. Louis stared at him as he took his first bite of the toast.
"You can't actually like that." Louis said."I love me a good avocado." Harry grinned.
"Trendiest food of all time." Louis snorted.
Harry rolled his eyes at him and took another bite, letting out a loud "mmmm" as he chewed.
"You're vile." Louis snorted.
Harry grinned widely and took another bite.
"Thank you.""It wasn't a compliment." Louis chuckled.
"It depends on how you look at it." Harry joked.
"Right. So, wanna go clubbing tonight? Celebrate me divorce." Louis suggested.
"Uhm, I don't know if it's something to celebrate really. We could just stay in. Watch a film, eat some ice cream. Talk?" Harry said.
"That sounds like a plan for Sunday. Tonight I'm getting smashed. Join me if you want. Or don't." Louis shrugged.
Harry was worried for him. Someone needed to keep an eye on him because he was clearly hurting.
"I'll go clubbing.""Great. I'll ask the guys to join us as well." Louis smiled and picked up his phone to text them.
Liam, Zayn, and Niall replied within minutes.
"They're in!" Louis smiled. He got up and carried his bowl to the sink and poured out the milk before he put the dirty bowl and spoon in the dishwasher. He turned his back to the sink and rested his hands behind him, leaning against it.
"I better call me mum and tell her the news.""Momma Jay will be upset for your sake. Good luck." Harry answered. He had met Louis' mother several times. She was a wonderful person.
"Thanks. I'm gonna need it." Louis muttered.
He disappeared into the bedroom and Harry wiped the counters and table and went out with the trash bag in the meantime. He was about to go and take a shower when Louis emerged from his bedroom. Harry stopped.
"How did it go?"Louis stopped in the hallway. He scratched the back of his head.
"Better than expected. Between you and me, I don't think me mum has ever liked El that much.""Really?" Harry questioned. Jay wasn't the only one.
"Yeah, obviously she has never said anything but I've always had that feeling." Louis shrugged.
Harry kept quiet. That was a hornet's nest he had no intention poking. He could see that Louis was sad though.
"Are you okay?""Not really. I need some time to process this. I don't even know what happened. I mean, did she just wake up one day and decide that she doesn't love me anymore? Why didn't she talk to me before she reached that point? A marriage means something to me Harry, and you're supposed to fight for it. It's not always easy but it's a commitment." Louis explained.
"Yeah." Harry agreed, once again unsure how to respond. He had never been married but he had the same view on marriage as Louis. It was a big deal. He wasn't sure he'd ever get married. He didn't have the best track record when it came to relationships. He usually bolted before it got too serious.
"Maybe we can eat that ice cream now. Watch something?" Louis suggested.
"Sure." Harry agreed. He could shower later.
They walked into the kitchen and Harry opened the freezer and found ice-cream. He handed Louis a pint of Rocky Road and walked over to the counter and grabbed two spoons.
"You just happen to have me favorite ice cream at home?" Louis questioned."Well, they only have my favorite during Christmas. This is the next best." Harry said.
"Right, Christmas pudding! I remember." Louis grinned.
They sat in the living room and decided on a film. They ate from the same bucket and watched Grease since it was Louis' favorite and he needed some cheering up.
