[I know I said Toji wouldn't appear but I kinda realised that that's impossible given the fact that he's the antagonist now.

Azra will most likely not appear anymore. (If she does, it'll probably be for a limited time.

I hope you enjoy the chapter :)]

Maki stood at the door, her grip on your hand unyielding. You clutched the bag slung over your shoulder, your brows knitted together as you shifted your gaze downwards, fixated on your own feet. "I have to go now, Maki." Raising your head, your eyes met hers. A heavy sigh escaped Maki's lips as her hold on your hand intensified. "I comprehend that this is for your safety... but is it really necessary?" Her words were tinged with a note of sadness.

"I really apologize, but it's for our well-being... I will return once the cops are off my back." With a touch of your hand that had been previously holding on to your backpack, you gently cupped Maki's cheek. She bit her lip, a hint of tension in her golden hues. "You need to take care of yourself... I understand that the burden of your actions may still be weighing on you... but always remember that you have friends and people who genuinely care about you." She held your hand that cupped her cheek, her touch reassuring.

"I promise, and if anything bad happens.. just know that I love you from the bottom of my heart, and these moments we've shared will remain in my heart and memorable." Your confession was touched with a mixture of guilt and affection.

"I love you too, [Name]." Maki's smile was weak as your lips met once again, feeling the connection that had brought you together. In that moment, the doubts that had caused your jealousy lost power.

"Remember what I said? If the cops come over, act clueless.."

"Sounds simple for you to say..." She mumbled. You couldn't help but let out a quiet, amused chuckle at her little comment. The cute moment was disrupted by the piercing annoying ring of your phone's alarm, signaling that it was time to leave. The smile on your face faded as you switched off the alarm, hesitantly removing your hand from Maki's warm touch.

"I'll be back soon." Before parting ways, you leaned in to kiss her once more. As you squeezed her hand gently, Maki nodded, her gaze stayed on you as you left the apartment. "Adieu mon amour!" Her voice echoed across the halls off as your figure disappeared from her view.

"I'll miss you."

"What are you doing here so unexpectedly, [Name]?"

"I quit." You cut straight to the point, wasting absolutely no time. A Toji's brow quirked followed by a nonchalant chuckle. "Come on now, is this some sort of prank?" He asked in slight disbelief.
"Does it look like a prank to you? I'm through with this lifestyle. It's devouring me, and I can't keep up, Toji." Your tone remained harsh, pressed into a line as your expression indicated seriousness.

"I'll expose your little secret to Maki if you quit." He uttered in a bored tone, extending your resignation letter back toward you. You pushed it aside dismissively and turned, making your way towards the exit.

"Share it with her if you wish. Tell her how you manipulated me into becoming a remorseless serial killer, Reveal every detail. I don't give a shit." Your words dripped with disrespect, you delivered a harsh severe kick to a chair by his door.  Toji's eyebrows knitted in response and he grabbed onto your arm.

"Don't quit." His voice seemed slightly desperate.

"I'm not going to listen to your demands. Let go of my hand, or else I'll fuck your face up and stretch that lip scar further than it is." Your attempted to push your arm from his grasp, although his strength clearly surpassed yours.

"I should've known..."
Toji's voice took on a darker tone as he continued, his words hinting at something far more sinister. "I should have known that you'd eventually come back to your senses, [Name]. I would let you go... but you see, you know way too much information..."

Your heart raced as your stomach flipped. The realization dawned upon you that Toji's intentions were far from just helping you. His grip on your hand tightened further, his fingers digging into your skin slightly turning his knuckles and finger tips white.

"Get your fucking hands off mine," you demanded, anger lingering within you. "I said I'm done."

His lips curled into a chilling smile, revealing a side of him that sent shivers down your spine. "Oh? You really think you are, [Name]? You underestimate the power I hold over you. You're my creation, my weapon. And now that you've served your purpose, it's time to end this once and for all."

Your heart pounded against your chest harshly, while you stared at Toji's unsettling expression. The true extent of Toji's manipulation was becoming painfully clear. He had manipulated you into becoming a cold-blooded killer, and now he intended to eliminate you to cover his actions.

"I refuse," You sternly spoke, voice trembling in fury. "I don't think you heard me Toji... I said I'm done with this shit. It's over and I'm not letting you kill me."

Toji's grip on your hand finally loosened, and you got your opportunity to set yourself free. As you stepped back, your hand instinctively went to the weapon hidden under your head scarf. His eyes followed your movement, his own expression turned darker as he realised what your intentions were

"I won't let you get me that easily, you die or I die," you declared, your voice steadier now as you aimed your pocket knife at him. "You think that I'm going to let you kill me like all those victims? You're probably the biggest dumbass I've met in my entire twenty three years on Earth."

Toji's smile remained, yet it appeared that you struck a nerve in him. "You're a skilled hitman, [Name]. But you've clearly forgotten who taught you your skills... maybe you're the dumbass" He drew his gun from his jacket.

A tense standoff arose as the two of you locked eyes, Toji held onto the gun in his hand with force while your grasp on the knife tightened. The room seemed to close in around you, the air thick with tension. You were trapped in a deadly game of cat and mouse with the man whom you considered your 'mentor'.

The room's silence was cut by the blaring sirens outside the building. Toji's skin appeared paled slightly, his grip on his gun loosening as the sound seemed to avert his focus. Taking the opportunity, you swiftly made your move, bolting towards the exit faster than ever.

Toji's attention seemed diverted, taken by the loud wailing sirens that echoed through the area. He believed the authorities were closing in on him yet he only saw an ambulance around. You managed to slip away, you disappearing from his sight. Frustration and anger formed onto his face as he realized you were out of his grasp. "That stupid cunt..." His teeth clenched.

You navigated through the streets with great speed as you knocked over a few items in your path. Your whereabouts seemed irrelevant. You simply needed to put as much space between you and Toji as possible.

The events felt so surreal, yet your history with him prepared you for Toji's potential reaction. Now, a new objective in your mind.

Eliminate Toji Fushiguro.
