LOLLAPALOOZA. 17

(ik lollapalooza was a while ago but i still wanted to do this chapter)

We were gathered in a dance room for a practice rehearsal, already in our outfits for lollapalooza. The staff handed us out microphones as we all thanked and greeted the crew that we would be working with.

"Hi we are NewJeans!" We went into our forms and greeted the staff, waving to them. We were told that we can warm up our voices and prepare ourselves for rehearsal.

I fixed my hair as it was falling into my face, due to the stylist not putting my hair back. Danielle was singing the chorus to cookie and I hummed a bit to clear my voice.

Once preparation was done, we started off the practice rehearsal with cookie. In-between the song breaks we got to dance and have fun with the band and dance along with them.

When the rehearsal for cookie was over, I fixed up my hair once again and talked to the camera. "I'm super excited for this crowd, and singing live with a band is so exciting!" I beamed. The performance director caught my attention and I walked over to the rest of my group mates.

"So you can hang out here and run there before 'Bet you Know,' like Minji did." The pd shared her opinions on how the stage should go. "For the 'Thats how you like it' part you can totally run together to get to your place." She suggested.

"Oh, we can run to move around?" Hyein asked for confirmation. "The stage is really big, so you can run." Pd confirmed. "So there are no markings on the actual stage right?" Minji questioned. "There are." "There are? All of them, they'll set it all there." Minji repeated

"We want you to be more carefree, yes, this is a soundtrack, but overall, you look a little frozen and bunched up together" The pd spoke. "Just as it's about to get fun, it stops"

— day two

"I'm really going to have fun." Hanni smiled. "Nobody will be able to stop us!" I agreed. "I'm just worried about my voice right now.." Hanni expressed. "It will take some time for us to get our energy up." Danielle said.

"So I brought the propolis (perfume) that Danielle gave me as a gift" Hanni told to the camera. "Yes, she brought it " I confirmed. "I just borrowed it too" Dani chuckled.

After the sound check, we started our actual rehearsal in this room with a big stage, but we weren't on the stage. The song we started off with hype boy.

We practiced Hype Boy, Ditto and Omg. After that we took a break, got our touch ups, and practiced a little bit in between.

We got ready to start rehearsal party two, which was our get up album part, but this time we didn't have hand held microphones.

"I feel like i've used up all of my energy now." I said to the camera "Me too. But now we have to rest and recharge for the next rehearsal." Haerin agreed with me "Yes! fighting!" I took her hand and shook it as she giggled.

— day three

On our way to rehearsal, we decided to vlog our car ride to there. "Look, there's a beach" Hanni recorded it. "Chicago is really amazing" Hyein said in awe. "Does anybody have hand cream?" Minji asked. "I do!" Hanni responded quickly. "I have hand cream!" Danielle also responded.

"No, I have hand cream!" I butted into their conversation, making them stop rummaging for the hand cream. "Wait, really?" Minji asked. I burst out into laughter "No, I don't have any I just wanted to include myself."

Immediately Hanni and Dani continue es rummaging around in their bags for hand cream and Dani found hers first "I got it first!" Danielle beat Hanni at their competition to give Minji hand cream. "Did you guys see that?" Minji laughed to the camera.

"Well, mine smells really good." Hanni boasted. "Mines coconut scented!" Danielle argued. "Coconut..? Come on girl!" Hanni chuckled.

We had finally made it to the venue and got ready for our final rehearsal. Todays sound check song is Attention, personally my favorite.

"The music we received was the same as the one we rehearsed with yesterday" Hanni discussed with the performance director "But just now, the song that played was the original version. Is that how it's going to be?" She asked.

We were all discussing things trying to be a hundred percent ready, considering this was our final rehearsal.

We're all dressed and ready, waiting for our appearance time. Our CEO,Min Heejin, (🤢) was here to cheer us on and give us some words of motivation.  "People are so excited for your stage." She told us.

"Really?" Haerin asked. "Yes, of course." "We have to show everyone that we can do this." Hanni smiled. "Yes, you do" Our CEO laughed along with us. "Don't just read the prompter, okay?" She told us. "Just say whatever you want to say." 

After a few more minutes of chatting, we were prompted to start heading to stage. I followed closely behind Haerin, wiggling my arms around to get the nervous in me out. "I'm nervous, I'm nervous now.." Hanni kept repeating as we continued walking.

We made it backstage and got some quick touch ups, and warmed up our voices. "Okay, let's do this sandwich!" Danielle suggested. We all put our hands into the middle. "I think this is going to be our biggest sandwich ever." Minji laughed. "Okay you ready?" Danielle asked.

"Girls, one, two, three!" We all lifted our hands into the air and laughed. "We got this!" I clapped my hands. They finally announced our name and we heard the crowd go wild. I jumped up and down once more to get the jitters out and calm down.

The soundtrack started playing as we ran up onto the stage to start our first preformance, Hype Boy.
