CHAPTER NINE
confessions.
THOUGH SHE STILL FELT SLIGHTLY QUEASY, JENNIFER FELT MUCH BETTER THAN SHE HAD, HER SYSTEM FINALLY STARTING TO FEEL CLEAR OF DRUGS. She quickly flushed the toilet after having thrown up before slowly standingand moving to Robin's stall. As she stepped beside her, Robin sat up to lean her back against the wall, Jennifer sitting next to her and resting her head on her shoulder, her eyelids feeling heavy. "Ask us something." Robin said after a few moments of silence. "Interrogate us." She joked in a Russian accent, wanting to see herself whether the drugs had actually left their systems yet.
"Um..." Steve thought for a moment. "When was the last time you, uh, peed your pants?"
"Today." Robin answered rather quickly.
"What?"
"When the Russian doctor took out the bone saw." She answered, Steve laughing aloud and muttering something to himself whilst Jennifer softly chuckled. When Robin saw Jennifer relaxing on her shoulder, she decided to move on, allowing her to rest. "All right, my turn. Have you... ever been in love?" Robin questioned.
At that, Jennifer couldn't help but lift her head up, a part of her wanting to hear his answer - whilst another was too scared to. Robin tried to hide her knowing smile at the girls reaction, though, she didn't hide it too well considering Jennifer sent a soft smack to her leg.
"Yep." Steve began. "Nancy Wheeler. First semester, senior year." He said, imitating a gunshot which Jennifer could only imagine was aimed at his heart.
"Oh, my God. She's such a priss." Robin couldn't help but comment.
Steve thought for a moment. "Hm. Turns out, not really." Jennifer silently agreed, remembering how different she was as soon as shit got serious, her mind reminiscing back to the whole Demo-dogs situation, her heart aching in response.
"Are you still in love with Nancy?" Robin asked softly. If she were to be honest, she was sick of how oblivious Steve and Jennifer were. Even she saw the connection between the two that went deeper than she could've even imagined. Jennifer's heart stopped as she waited for Steve to answer the question.
Surprisingly, the boy answered quickly. "No." He stated simply, Robin questioning why. "I think it's because I found someone who's a little bit better for me." For a moment, their conversation drifted to Dustin's girlfriend Suzy, though, they quickly found their way back.
