CHAPTER TWENTY SIX

as above so below.

THE FIVE FOUND THEMSELVES KNELT AGAINST NANCY'S BED, WAITING EAGERLY FOR DUSTIN, ERICA, AND LUCAS ON THE OTHER SIDE. "Come on. Come on." Steve muttered, Eddie rocking back and forth, his lip between his teeth. Faintly, they heard Dustin's voice echoing through the air. 

"...seeing this?" They heard softly, Nancy reaching her hand out to the edge of the bed, the air surrounding her fingers letting off a faint red glow, Dustin's laughter quickly echoing through the air yet again. "We're not moving it, but we're gonna unplug it. Stand by." Dustin yelled out. 

The shining particles that had once floated above Nancy's bed disappeared, Nancy slowly but surely reached her hand out again at Dustin's word. Nancy's fingers danced through the air, meticulously writing out 'hi', the other four eagerly waiting for a reply from Dustin. "That worked!" They heard, the five quickly breaking out in small cheers. 

"Hi!" Eddie repeated excitedly, Jennifer and Steve sharing a quick high-five.

"Okay, uhm..." Nancy paused, thinking for a moment before writing out 'stuck' for the three on the other side to decipher, Robin and Eddie agreeing with Nancy's wording. 

"You can't get back through Watergate?" Dustin called out, Steve furrowing his brows out of confusion. 

"What the hell's Watergate?" He questioned, Robin replying as if it should have been obvious.

"'Cause it's in water and it's a gate."

"Oh.

"That's cute."

"Right."

Nancy paused for a moment, thinking of how to respond. "Um, no. It's..." She murmured before beginning to write out another message. They could hear Erica, Dustin, and Lucas deciphering it as Nancy wrote, Eddie giving a light applause once they'd gotten it right. 

"We think we have a theory that can help with that." Dustin called out. "We think Watergate isn't the only gate. That there's a gate at every murder site." The five looked around to one another confused, unsure of what Dustin was saying and whether they'd even heard them right. 

"Does anybody understand what he's talking about?" Nancy questioned, Eddie and Steve responding with adjacent 'no's' whilst Jennifer simply shook her head, Robin staying silent with furrowed brows. Nancy reached forward, writing out a questionmark, only for Dustin to yell back out in annoyance.
