I was being chased. Giant cobs of corn were rolling after me trying to flatten me. Giant cobs of corn with my friend's faces. They rolled after me laughing as I struggled to escape them. For cobs of corn, they rolled incredibly fast and every time I thought I lost them one would pop out of nowhere and it'd start all over again. Maybe if I had a flame thrower I could light the corn on fire and turn it into popcorn. Then it wouldn't be chasing me. Unless the popcorn grew legs and started swarming me... that would be worse. I think I'll take my chances with the cobs. As I continued to run I could feel my legs begin to tire. How long will these things chase me!? Just give up already! Suddenly, a pink and white striped bedroom door appeared ahead of me. Deciding to take my chances, I sprinted to the door, flung it open, and went inside.
Glancing around, I was greeted with the sight of the living room in a familiar apartment. I sucked in a breath this was where those two people from before were. I'm in- what did Margret call it? Oh yeah! The dreamscape, that's what it's called. So if I'm here, I must have entered when the same person last time came. But where are they? I wonder if they're having another meeting with the demons. Should I listen in? 'If you end up back there you leave immediately,' Margret's voice echoed through my head. Should I leave? Marget said to, but I don't see or hear anyone here. They could be hiding somewhere waiting to pounce, the moment I move. Margret said this place was dangerous, something about there being bigger forces at play or something along those lines. She must know what she's talking about, if she said to leave then I should.
Right? But Margret isn't here. I could look around and see if I can find anything, like a clue or something. It might help us figure out who Greer is. Finding out who Greer is, is way more important. Is it not? I mean the sooner we figure it out the better. Then everyone will be out of danger and we can go home. That would be good, wouldn't it? Being able to go home and forget this nightmare before someone gets seriously injured? I know I would prefer it. I'll just take a quick look around. See if I can find anything, if I don't at least I tried, and if I hear anyone I'll leave immediately. They'll never know I was here. Looking around, I tried to find a good place to start. I've seen this place somewhere before, if I can find an object to jog my memory then I'll figure out where it is. I'll start with the shelves, those might have something useful. Moving towards a shelf, I began sifting through its contents.
Knickknacks were scattered around along with random trash and glasses. Whoever lives here isn't very clean. I looked over shelf after shelf until I came across one full of pictures. Squinting at one of the pictures, I frowned. All the people in the pictures were blurry. I couldn't make out any facial features. The backgrounds were clear though. One of them seemed familiar. It looked like a park. Several people are blurred out of it, whoever it is must have gone with friends or family. There were trees behind them and the edge of a slide. Well, that's semi-helpful? Maybe... Is there anything else around here? I moved away from the shelves and began rummaging through the drawers. Most of them were full of junk, some had a few books but I didn't recognize any of them. There were also a few stray CDs, but none were too interesting, just Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift. Nothing out of the ordinary. Moving on to the cabinets I found the ones near the TV were full of movies.
And I must say whoever this is, has great taste in movies. They've got 'Thirteen Going on Thirty,' 'The Notebook,' all three 'Pitch Perfect movies, 'Mean Girls,' and 'Terminator.' Huh, that's different. Oh, wait they've got the 'Jason Bourn' movies over here and 'James Bond.' Okay, this person either has two very differing movie tastes or has a roommate. I wonder if I can find anything in that room from last time? I mean whoever lives here must have some personal effects in there. Abandoning the living room, I began to make my way down the hall. As I was walking down the hall I heard people talking in low voices. I froze. I should leave before they notice I'm here. That's what I said I would do, I should do it. 'When you want to leave, picture, where your body was then you can find your way back,' I recalled. That seems easy enough. I mean I could do that quickly, right? I know where I fell asleep so getting back will be easy. I can stay and listen to their conversation. If I'm quiet and don't move they won't notice me.
Focusing on the voices, I began to listen to what they were saying. "I thought you said you had a plan!" The same static voice from last time growled. "I do," the other person replied. Looks like it's the same people. One must be Greer and the other one is probably the head demon or something. "You just need to be patient," one person said, "They're heading in the right direction. Just a little more encouragement and they'll be exactly where we need them." "Well you better hurry up," the static voice snapped, "Because we're running out of time and I don't feel like waiting another ten years for the next crossing to come around." "We don't need a crossing," the other voice sighed, "I don't understand why you're so set on it." "Because it makes the transition smoother and more convenient," the static one replied, "I prefer that everyone arrives in one piece." Transition? What are they talking about? Whatever it is it doesn't sound very pleasant.
Especially if they don't come out in one piece. I mean I agree with static voice I like being fully intact. Guess the other person doesn't agree. "Okay, but do they need to be at that spot? I don't see why that matters," the other person said. "Because it gets the most light and ancient energy thrives there," the static voice hissed. The other person sighed, "This is ridiculous I don't see why we couldn't have done it in New York. We're wasting time!" "Well, this wouldn't have happened if you listened to me," Static spat. "No!" The other argued, "This wouldn't have happened if you and your friends hadn't stopped for a snack!" Stopped for a snack? "What?" I whispered. "YOU LET HIM BACK IN!" Static roared. Oops- Cornfield! Cornfield! Cornfield! Closing my eyes, I imagined where I was, and just as I heard feet moving- My eyes shot open. That was close. Laying still, I listened to see if anyone else was up. No one moved and the sound of breathing didn't change.
I looked up to see if anything was walking around the cornfield. Nothing. Well, looks like we're safe for now. The sun was up by now and I can only assume it was early morning. I let out a sigh, I wonder what they were talking about. Static and the other don't seem to get along well. I wonder why they're even working together. They both mentioned something about timing, Static called it the Transition. That's probably got something to do with the demons invading planets. I mean transition must be referring to them crossing from one planet to another, it would only make sense. Static also mentioned a place with ancient energy? Whatever the hell that is. So they must want us in a certain place. Probably an old one if it has "ancient energy." So, I guess we need to stay away from old places. The other voice also said we were heading in the right direction... is Greer leading us there? We have no idea where we're going. We're just following Chase.
... We're following Chase. He was the one leading us. He's the one that's choosing where we go. I don't trust him so why was I letting him guide us!? Oh my gosh! I can't believe this. Chase is Greer. He has to be. There's no other plausible explanation. It has to be him! He's the most likely out of all of us! He's been to jail, and is aggressive, suspicious, and not trustworthy. He's Greer. I'm sure of it. I just need to test it. As soon as we meet back up with everyone else I'll suggest we go in the opposite direction he chooses. It'll just prove I'm right if he gets annoyed, angry, or upset! Yes, that's perfect I smiled. The plan is foolproof, it should work. Groaning, I closed my eyes. I'm still exhausted, I should see if I can go back to sleep. Laying down and rolling on my side, I closed my eyes and let my brain drift. Random songs popped up and my thoughts walked around for a bit, but slowly I began to drift back to sleep. The last thing I heard was someone moving around.
I'll be honest this chapter wasn't planned. The dreamscape wasn't going to show up again but I realized I couldn't have it once and never do it again soooo here it is. Anyway, have a great day! Bye! 🙃
