Trigger Warning! Bl00d

My legs ached and my breaths came out in short bursts. Leaning against a tree, I lowered Luke's body to the ground. After bandaging up, we kept moving hoping to get farther away from Greer. Neither of us was keen on stopping to rest so we traveled all night. It wasn't until the sun began to rise that I noticed how pale Luke was. Apparently, the wound was deeper than I thought. He passed out before I could say anything. Leaving me to haul his dumb ares through the woods. It wouldn't be that big of a problem if he wasn't so heavy! Damn, the moron also had to go and be twice my size making him awkward to carry! We need to run away from the evil person. Oh no I passed out. You have to carry me. Meh, meh, meh, meh, meh. I glared at his unconscious body. He so owes me for this. Sliding to the ground, I stretched my injured leg out to let it rest.

Letting out an exhausted sigh, I leaned my head back and shut my eyes. Rays of sunshine streamed through the branches onto my face. Bloody hell it's hot. Out of all the seasons this had to happen it was summer. The hottest time of the year. If it were winter we'd have some sort of water! Which we don't have now because I forgot the bloody backpack! That thing probably had bandages and medicine in it too! Ugh! I should have grabbed it before we ran! A twig snapped in the distance and my eyes snapped open. Quietly moving so I could see in the direction it came from, I saw nothing but empty forest. ...I don't trust it. Slowly getting to my feet, I bent down and picked Luke back up positioning him so he was over both shoulders. A hand around his ankle and another around his wrist to keep him in place. Silently, I started walking away from the noise. It's probably nothing. You should stay and rest.

You won't be able to make it much farther on that leg. Piss off, the last time I listened to you, I told Luke he was being paranoid. And guess what, he wasn't! He was right about something being off! I felt it too but no, I listened to you. I'm not making that mistake again. Carefully maneuvering through the woods, I made sure to make as little noise as possible. Is it the fastest way of travel? No, but it is the best method to stay undetected. So, I'm using it. Heh, guess years of learning to sneak around my apartment has come in handy. You can take the child out of the survival situation, but you can't take the survival out of the child! Suck on that Greer! Traum? No! I have life-saving skills! Hehe, I can't wait to tell my therapist about this! Go on a fun vacation with your friends she said. It will relieve your stress she said. Her advice is rubbish and I can prove it! Continuing to weave my way around the various forms of wildlife, I kept my ears open for any more noise.

Greer's smart they'll probably know to stay silent, but everyone slips up eventually. I would know. When they do, I fully intend on hearing it. As we I (Don't think Luke counts since the bugger passed out.) progressed through the trees, I realized they were beginning to thin. I grinned. If they're thinning then people are nearby. Where nature ends. Humans begin. Slightly increasing my pace, I made a beeline for the thinnest spot in the tree line. With each step, I moved faster. We're almost out. Screw other people dying. Luke can cry about it when he wakes up in a hospital. The demons are dead and I want out of this. Margret can take care of Greer herself. Old lady should have done it in the first place. Not leave it up to a group of kids. Breaking through the treeline, I was spat out into a small ditch leading up to a road. Hobbling up the hill as fast as I could, I searched the road for cars. It was empty. Not much of a surprise, I snorted. It's by no means a highway. Probably a back road the locals use...

Which means someone must live nearby. This road must turn off into someone's driveway. Scanning the road for some sort of direction, I decided to go right. Going left means I would backtrack which won't do me any good. Speed walking down the road, I moved as quickly and swiftly as I could without full-on running. The sooner I find a house the better. I'm not too keen on letting Luke bleed out. I'm not living alone. If I'm getting out of here someone's coming with me. Couldn't be any of my friends, fine. Couldn't be two of Luke's, fine. But I refuse to let Luke go. He's surviving. Whether he likes it or not. About half a mile of traveling the road, a small farmhouse came into view. Braking into a jog, I approached the building. The place was small and no lights were on, but it looked well-kept and lived in. Climbing the steps, I let go of Luke's ankle and pounded on the door. After a minute there was no reply.
