"I'm assuming you look as glum as me for the same reason?" I sigh, sitting next to a sad looking Cory, "Shawn has summer plans too?" Cory groans, "I thought that's why you were upset." I furrow my brows, "No, Topanga is going to camp for two months." Cory whines. "So we're stuck together all summer?" I groan, "Oh, yeah, thanks." Cory scoffs, "I didn't mean it like that but usually every summer is me, Shawn, and you. Every summer since third grade." I lean my head against the wall behind me. "More like you, Shawn, and I hopefully get a week in at the end." Cory complains. "So not true!" Two summers ago I had to third wheel you and Shawn at the basketball court!" I argue. "Last summer you two couldn't get each other's tongues out of each other's mouths!" Cory complains, "And what was the plan with Topanga this summer?" I tease, crossing my arms in front of my chest, "I surrender." Cory mutters, throwing his hands up in defeat. "What do you surrender?" Shawn asks, walking out of the bathroom. "He says we spent all last summer kissing each other and I asked him what he wanted to do with Topanga this summer." I smile, standing up next to him, "I wish I could do it again." Shawn says, kissing me softly, "Hey, hey! Enough." Cory waves his hands around. "Oh come on, Cor! Don't be such a baby." I jeer as we begin the walk to my house.

"You coming to my brother's grad party next week?" Cory asks and I nod, "Of course, you only asked me like seven times." I giggle, "Yeah yeah, bye Cass. Bye Shawn." Cory sounds like a big toddler throwing a toddler tantrum as he stomps away into his house. "See you later?" Shawn asks, putting his hands in his pockets, "Of course. Window at 8." "It's a date." Shawn smiles, kissing me gently. "Get a room!" Cory yells from his front door before he slams it. "Your friend is a child." I tease as he rests his forehead on mine. "I know." He says, pecking my lips again. "See you later." I smile and turn on my heel to walk to my house. "I love you." Shawn yells from across the street. "I love you too Shawn Hunter." I say back as he walks down the sidewalk back to his house.
I walk into my house to nothing, no mom or dad greeting me with insults; it's oddly unsettling. "Mommy?" I call up the stairs, "In my room!" She calls back and I hurry up there, "Where's daddy?" "Works till five today, had some meetings." She explains, not taking her eyes off the computer screen. "Writing?" I question, sitting at the edge of her bed, squinting at the screen that is now in front of both of us. "Yeah, trying." She huffs, turning in her spinny office chair to face me. "How you doing?" She asks me, genuinely. "Uh," I'm taken back by the kindness and her sober smell. "I'm alright. Are you okay?" I ask, unsettled. "Yeah." She sighs and turns around to face the computer again. "Well, I'm going to go to my room now." I say awkwardly standing up. "Spaghetti for dinner. I'll leave a plate for Shawn in the microwave." She says as I stand by her doorway, "You knew he was coming?" I ask, "You just told me." She looks at me with her tired, sunken eyes. There's a short pause before I continue to walk back to my room–what is it with my mom? One minute she's fine, another she's drunk and double teaming with my dad. I don't know what's going on anymore and it's stressing me out!

"I like these new star lights." Shawn says as he climbs through my window, "The pink makes it look extra cool in here." He says, admiring the string star lights that hang above my windows. "Thanks. Mrs. Matthews got them for me for babysitting Morgan." I say as I lean back on my palms, "My mom made spaghetti and left you a plate." I add, nodding towards the foil wrapped plate that sits on my desk, "She's in a good mood today?" Shawn chuckles as he unwraps his food, "Your guess is as good as mine." I huff then fall back onto the bed, looking at my ceiling. "I missed you." Shawn says, climbing overtop of me, the silver chain I bought him dangles in my face. "I missed you too." I say, pulling him down by his chain, kissing him. "You think we can sneak out to your pool? Try something new." Shawn says, looking at me with lust filled eyes as I feel him grow onto my leg. "The hot tub is right outside of their room, Shawny." "We'll be quiet." He says, kissing my jaw. "Fine." I sigh, pushing him off the top of me. "Let's go." I stand up and hold my hand out, "No bathing suit?" He asks, "Do we really need one, Hunter?" I ask and a smirk grows on his face. "Exactly." I roll my eyes and lead the way to sneak out of my room.
"Their room is right there." I whisper to him as we peak out of my door, "I'll sneak over and check if they're in there. My dad likes to watch TV at night once everyone is in bed but sometimes he'll go on the computer in his room." I explain and Shawn nods and I creep over to my parents bedroom. The sound of a beast sleeping penetrates my eardrums; he's asleep. I give Shawn a thumbs up and nod towards the stairs. We sneak down each step, petrified that someone will catch us. Just as we head towards the backdoor my mom peaks around the corner holding a rag, "Cassie?" She questions, "Shawn and I wanted to go swimming." I smile, nervously. "Bathing suits?" "Under the clothes." I pathetically lie. She huffs and looks towards the stairs; almost looking as worried as I get when I know he's going to hurt me. "Go." She sighs, continuing to clean the counters.
"Your mom is in a goo-" "Don't talk just kiss me." I instruct, getting in the hot tub, dragging him in with me. Making out with Shawn in the hot tub is euphoric. I feel like I'm taken into another world as we start to make love in the warm water. "Cass, I love you." He winces out as I ride him, "I love you too, Shawny." I breathe out as we finish together. "We need to buy one of these when we live together." Shawn says, out of breath as I lean against the walls of the tub, "Yeah we do." I agree, also out of breath. "Shawn?" I hear Cory's voice, "Cory what are you doing here?" Shawn whispers, getting in front of me to help cover my naked body. "I was coming to tell Cass that my brother's party was moved up to tomorrow night not knowing I'd find you here too." He whines. "Cor, please keep it down." I say, pointing up to my parents window. "They don't know Shawn is here?" Cory whispers, "They don't know we're out here." I explained, "Can I join?" Cory asks, excitedly, "Cor, not a good time." Shawn insists. "Oh yeah, keep me out like you two always do." Cory complains, "It's okay. See you guys tomorrow." Cory says before walking away. "That was close." Shawn huffs, "Yeah let's hurry up and get back into my house before he comes back." I say and we quickly jump out and rush into the house, remaining as quiet as possible.
"I'm going to miss you all summer." I say, laying in my bed admiring Shawn as he dries himself off wrapped in nothing but a towel on his waist. "I'm going to miss you too but I haven't seen my dad in a year." He explains, sitting down. "I know and I love that you're going to spend time with him. I just wish I could go or something. I don't know what I'm going to do without you." I pout, "Aw not the pout." Shawn says, crawling into bed next to me, "Those perfect lips should never pout." He says, pushing the corners of my mouth up causing me to actually smile, "Ahh, there it is." He says, standing back up to get dressed. "When do you leave?" I ask, "Day after tomorrow." "My life's over." I groan and lay like a star on my bed, "Two months and your life will be reviven." "Totally not a word." I chuckle, "It so is." "Is not." I tease. "Whatever you say, nerd." He teases me gently. "So rude!" I pretend to be offended. "I think nerds are hot." He smiles, laying in bed with me, "Stuart Minkus? You think Minkus is hot?" I tease, "Go to bed, Cass." He rolls his eyes and pulls me into his embrace. "You didn't deny it." I sing, nuzzling close to him. "Only person I think is hot besides myself is Cassidy Young and everybody in Pennsylvania should know that." Shawn says with his eyes closed. "I'm sure one day everyone in the world will know it too." He adds on. "I love you." I say softly before falling asleep in his strong embrace.
I'm really going to miss him this summer, what will I do?
