"Sorry about the bite. I reckon it twinges a bit." Sirius said as he and Harry helped Ron towards the exit of the tunnel.
"A bit? A bit? You almost tore my leg off!"
"Bit dramatic Ronald." Cassie laughed.
"Coming from you!" Ron argued.
"I was going for the rat. Normally I have a very sweet disposition as a dog. In fact more than once, James suggested that I make the change permanent. The tail I could live with, but the fleas, they're murder." Sirius chuckled, shaking his head.
Placing Ron down on the base of the tree, Sirius walked towards the castle with Harry not far behind. Sirius looked up, admiring the castle he once use to call home. Memories flooding back to him. "That was a noble thing you did back there. He doesn't deserve it."
"I didn't think my dad would have wanted his two best friends to become killers. With him dead, the truth dies with him but alive, you're free." Harry looked back to where Cassie was checking Ron's leg. "Besides, I know someone who really needs her dad."
Sirius nodded. "Wise words Harry. I'm aware you already know that your parents made me your godfather when you were born."
"I know. The truth is I reacted poorly when I found out. I let all my anger out on her, I said some hurtful thing that I still haven't apologised for."
"I know all about what happened between you two." Seeing the look of confusion on Harry's face, he continued. "I've kept an eye on her from the moment I got here, I overheard he telling Remus about it. I have to say I wasn't happy when I heard what you had said but I can tell she misses you. It will take a lot of work if you want to be forgiven."
Harry nodded, already making plans to apologies to everyone. "I'm going to try everything I can to show her how sorry I am. I should go to Ron, I think someone wants to talk to you." The two looked towards Cassie who was watching them as she leant against Hermione.
Harry walked towards them, passing Cassie as she ran towards her dad. "Dad" Sirius held her close, rubbing her back as she sobbed.
"I'm here." She looked up at him, tears rolling down her cheeks. Sirius took the time to look over her features. To everyone else she looked like him but all he could see was the perfect mix of Annabelle and himself. "Cassie." He whispered, wiping the tears from her face. "I've missed you so much. I'm so proud of you."
J: AWWW MY HEART CAN'T TAKE THIS
A:FINALLY
"I missed you so much. I can't believe you are here!"
"I know. I've been keeping an eye on you. I watched you Quidditch games, you are amazing!!"
"Thank you, guess I got my talent from Uncle James." She laughed, pulling away from their hug. Sirius felt his heart warmed as he listen to her.
J: HA TAKE THAT PADFOOT!!
"Excuse me!" He scoffed, placing his hand over his heart. "Oh and nice Animagus form."
"Ohh yeah that." A sheepish smile took over her face. "Forgot you saw that, any chance you can pretend you didn't see that?"
"No chance. We will discuss that later."
"CASSIE! SIRIUS!" Hermione yelled, making the two turn to her. They looked to where she was pointing at the full moon as Remus started to transform.
"Remus, my old friend. Have you taken your potion tonight?" Sirius ran to his side, holding his arms as Cassie joined the others. Remus began to twitch and shake as his transformation quickly began. "You know the man you truly are, Remus. This heart is where you truly live! Here!"
Harry watched as Peter picked up the fallen wand, he quickly disarmed him causing him to change back into his Animagus form and run off into the night. Remus let out a loud howl as he threw Sirius off him, looking towards the group of teenagers.
"Come on." Cassie said as she tried to pull Hermione with her, shaking her off Hermione stepped closer to Remus. "Hermione! You idiot, get back here!"
"Listen to her, Hermione!" Ron chimed in.
"Professor? Professor Lupin?" Remus let out a howl as he stalked towards them. Snape exited the willow, jumping in front of the four as Remus jumped up to strike them. Sirius, who had changed back to his Animagus form, jump over and tackled him to the ground.
The two started to fight, clawing and biting each other until Sirius was thrown to the ground, leaving Remus to turn to those gathered by the willow. Sirius quickly regained his strength, pulling Remus aside before bolting away. Cassie watched as her dad ran towards the forest, even knowing she was no match for them she shifted into her wolf form and sprinted after them.
"Black, get back here!"
"Cassie, no!"
She could hear Snape and Ron calling for her but her attention stayed on the two in front of her. Cassie jumped up, tackling Remus as he stood over her dad. She dug her claws into his arm as he tried to shake her off.
Cassie landed on the ground with a thud, pain spreading through her body. She got up, standing in front of the growling werewolf, just as they went to charge for each other a howl rang through the night stopping them both. Remus stood for a minute before running off to follow the sound.
Cassie turned just in time to see Sirius shift back to his human form before he fell down the hill towards the lake. She bolted down the hill towards the lake, spotting him laying by the edge.
Harry managed to away from Snape, following the path Remus, Sirius and Cassie had run down. Seeing Cassie run down the hill he decided to follow her. The sound of twigs snapping turned her attention to the woods, with her wand raised she turned to the direction the sound came from. "Who's there?"
"It's Harry" He stepped out from behind the trees, looking down at Sirius. "Are you both okay?"
"I've been better but don't think he's doing good." She crouched back next to him, Harry joining her. The air started to turn colder as a thick layer of ice covered the lake. Cassie looked up to see Dementors making their way towards them. "Fuck! Please tell me you remember the spell Lupin has been teaching you?"
Harry watched as she stood, raising her wand towards the Dementors. "Expecto Patronum!"
"Expecto Patronum!" Harry joined her. The Dementors swooped down hitting their shields of light. Their shields vanished as the Dementors came closer to them, causing them to scream as they dropped to the ground.
Cassie looked to her dad, watching as a small blue ball left his mouth. Noticing Harry looking across the lake she follow his gaze, seeing a bright silver Stag joined by her own Patronus. With one last look to her dad, everything turned black.
Harry watched the silver figures across the lake emitted a bright white light that spread across the lake, causing the Dementors to fly away. Sirius jolted, pulling Harrys attention back to him and Cassie only for him to notice Cassie was passed out. Harry felt himself get light-headed before he too joined the darkness.
