Coco

"No...no...no...no...no" I woke up to Mumma screaming.

Her eyes were still closed which meant she was having a nightmare. But her voice was loud enough to wake me and Dadda.

I looked at the digital LED clock on the nightstand. It was 4:37 a.m., meaning we had barely slept for 20 minutes. Mumma came to bed at half past 3 but she was too tense to sleep so Dadda tried to calm her down and though I was sleepy and tired and my beauty sleep was being ruined by Dadda continuously blabbering, it was all for Mumma. And for her, I'd give my life.

"Coco, move."Dadda patted my back so I moved to the foot of the bed. "Hey." he shifted towards her and wrapped his hands around her neck. He pressed her to his chest and rubbed soothing circles on the base of her neck, with his fingers. He whispered soft words of comfort into her ear, assuring her that he was there, that she was safe, and that the nightmare couldn't harm her anymore. I let the lovebirds take up the entire bed and slept on the fluffy black and white rug.

"...what about the antibiotics?...Okay. Give me half an hour." I heard Mumma's soft-sleepy voice, somewhere distant. My eyes flew open to the LED clock on the nightstand in front of me. It's 5:39 a.m.

Would anyone let me sleep? Please.

"Oh, my God." I felt something light hit my side and Mumma gasped. "Oh, baby." She picked me up and held me like a newborn baby. "I'm so sorry. Did I hurt you, sweetheart? What are you doing on the floor anyway? You were supposed to sleep on the bed with us." She scratched my belly and I curled up in her embrace with my eyes wide open.

"Mumma, you could never hurt me, you are light as a feather. And to answer your other question, I was sleeping on the bed, but your dear husband kicked me out so he could cuddle you to sleep."

Oh! if I could just say that in your language.

"Did I kick you in sleep, baby? I'm so sorry if I did. Though I did sleep pretty well. And I think the entire credit goes to you. Did you cuddle me to sleep?" She babbled the last two sentences.

Aww, Mumma. I may grow up, but I'll always be your baby.

And no, you didn't kick me in sleep. But I can't say that so I curl up against her even more.

"I gotta go, baby. Mumma's got work to do." She kissed me a final goodbye before keeping me on the bed and turning around. "What the hell." Her voice was a shriek but she kept a hand on her mouth to muffle it, probably to not wake Dadda. "Why am I wearing Ahaan's shirt?" She whisper yelled. But as the realization hit her, she stiffened.

She walked to the washroom without speaking a word. I slumped to the bed, resting my head on Dadda's extended hand. He slept on his back, with his mouth wide open and his legs thrown all over the bed.

How the hell did mumma sleep with this sleeping beauty?

He turned on his side and wrapped his hand over me.

"Yuck dadda. I hate cuddling." I move to the other side of the bed. I don't know when I fell asleep, but the next time I opened my eyes, it's to Dadda whistling some song.

'am guessing something from the 90s.

I wouldn't know, you see I'm Gen α.

"Hey! You're up." I put my forelimbs on the ground and stretched my body.

"Oh, no Dadda. I'm still asleep, my eyes are just open." Sorry. I'm just not a morning person.

"Do you know when Blossom woke up?" I look back at the clock on the nightstand which blazed 8:10 a.m.
