The first day of classes at Zodiac Academy had arrived, and I led the way with my friends Maylee, Pierce, and Renee, heading to our first class: Potions. Denisha trailed behind us, her eyes darting nervously around the room.

Entering the classroom, I scanned it, my piercing dark blue eyes sizing up the students. My attention was particularly drawn to Ramon and Jamal, Renee and I made our way to them while Paris and maylee went to find our seats. Jamals hair was all fuzzy and he stayed convincing us to ditch the class

Our professor, a wizened woman with long silver hair and piercing green eyes, walked in. The class settled down, and I took my seat, my focus shifting to the teacher.

"Welcome, young zodiac royals" the professor began, her voice carrying an air of authority. She went on to explain the basics of potion-making, detailing the ingredients and the precise incantations needed for success. It was a world of bubbling cauldrons, colorful powders, and mysterious concoctions.

Towards the end of the class, the professor set an intriguing challenge. "Today, class, you will create a love spell potion and its corresponding antidote. Your target is Wyatt, the tall lad over there," she said, indicating a lanky boy with dark hair and a distinctive leather skirt, adorned with the Earth Clan symbol. I recognize him from royal camp. He was friends with Damien and rumored to be dating kade.

I exchanged knowing glances with my friends, aware of the unspoken challenge. Ramon tried first but, to everyone's amusement, turned himself into a frog. The professor quickly reversed the spell, and Ramon slumped in his seat, defeated.

Then it was my turn. I mixed the ingredients with precision, but when Wyatt took a sip, he simply fell asleep, causing a collective chuckle from the class. Another failure.

As the tension mounted, Denisha's turn arrived. I watched as her hands trembled, and she followed the instructions meticulously. When Wyatt took a sip, his eyes seemed to glaze over, and he stared at Denisha with newfound adoration. She had succeeded. I exchanged glances with my friends once more, understanding that forging a friendship with Denisha had just become a necessity.

....

The 20-minute break between classes was a precious respite from our rigorous studies. My friends - Maylee, Renee, Paris - and I decided to spend it in the shade of a massive oak tree that stood like a sentinel on the school grounds. Our laughter and chatter easily blended with the rustling leaves and the gentle whisper of the wind.

Jamal and Ramon, joined us under the tree with snacks
" I love pickle berries thank you" Maylee danced snatching her chips from Jamal

"Sour patch for you" Ramon handed me sweets. I loved sweets so much. They were literally the reason I breath and look forward to each day "thanks"I smiled at him

"So, what's everyone up to after classes today?" Paris asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Renee grinned mischievously. "I heard there's a secret tunnel beneath the library. Who's up for an adventure?"

Maylee shook her head, chuckling. "You and your wild ideas, Renee. Count me out."

Jamal, ever the voice of reason, chimed in, "Maybe we could explore together but not go too far into the unknown."

I nodded in agreement. The prospect of a secret tunnel adventure sounded exciting, even though a hint of caution was necessary. "Sounds like a plan."

Ramon leaned back against the tree trunk, his deep purple eyes scanning the surrounding nature. "This place is incredible. The way the trees sway in the breeze, the scent of the earth after rain - it's like magic."

I couldn't agree more. The natural beauty of our school's surroundings never failed to enchant me. "It's like we're in a world of our own here."

As we continued to chat and laugh, a strange occurrence caught my eye. In the corner of my vision, a dark, tall figure appeared for an instant, as if emerging from the very shadows themselves. His eyes were unusually dark, almost obsidian, Before I could react or even catch a clear glimpse, he vanished, like a ghost.

Startled, I blinked and glanced around, but no trace of the mysterious figure remained. I brushed it off as a trick of the light or perhaps my imagination playing tricks on me. With a shrug, I turned my attention back to my friends, eager to enjoy the remaining minutes of our break.
