Denisha
One ruby , Two diamonds
Three sapphires , Four amethyst
Woven around the chain
Are you the chosen one
Every one shook their heads
But ruby nodded
Oh then you're the queen"What song is that?"
"Just a song mummy thought me. She said only the highest powers knew it" Perses shrugged "All done" she laid beside me." I'm done folding your clothes. The next time you'll do mine okay?"
"Okay" I laughed
"You're not a baby anymore Denisha. You're just one year younger than me. Act like it "
"I said okay geez. Are you going to arrest me ?"
"I wish I could"
I laughed watching her roll her eyes in anger.
"I love you Perse"
"I love you too"
Present day
Celeste's eyes held a mixture of concern and frustration, her words sharp and pointed
"You should have seen her, Denisha," Celeste argued, her voice laced with disbelief. "I made noise, I hit the floor, I clapped, I coughed, just to make sure she was deep asleep. I waved my hands in front of her face, and she was still fast asleep. But the moment I touched the book, she just opened her eyes, like she's connected to the book or something."
I furrowed my brow, my mind grappling with the strangeness of it all. "Yeah, something is definitely off," I agreed, steering the conversation away from that unsettling revelation. Truth be told I didn't want Celeste to be involved in any thing related to the descendants. Not that I didn't trust her. I just don't think it right to burden someone with such news
"How's the plan with Renee coming along?"
"Renee?" Celeste seemed momentarily confused before realization dawned on her. "Oh, yes, Renee."
I leaned in, eager to hear the details of our next move. "Tell me."
"So, get this," Celeste began, her eyes glinting with determination. "Ramon is the only one who knows Brooke's password, and Brooke's head over heels for him, apparently."
I nodded. "Yeah, I've heard about that."
"Well, Ramon can log into Brooke's phone and send a message to the head office," Celeste explained, her tone conspiratorial.
"A message?" I questioned, trying to understand the full scope of her plan.
"Yep," she confirmed, popping sweets into her mouth absentmindedly. "Pictures they have of Renee and the Gerists guy."
"But why do we need to send it from her phone, though?" I pondered aloud. "Can't we just send an anonymous tip?"
Celeste paused, considering my question. "I mean, we could, but won't it hit Brooke harder if all her friends think she's a sellout?"
I nodded, acknowledging the logic in her words. "True."
"I love jelly beans so much," she groaned, savoring the taste with evident pleasure.
"I can see that," I chuckled softly, trying to lighten the heavy atmosphere that hung around us. "So when will Ramon do what he's supposed to do?"
"Tonight," Celeste replied, her eyes glinting with determination. "And by tomorrow, the news will spread like wildfire."
