Olivia tried her hardest to get past seeing her mother for the first time in years, yet it weighed her down no matter how hard she tried to stop it. Olivia did everything through the thick fog that surrounded her.
"Uh, babe?" Amanda asked as she knocked on Olivia's open office door.
"Amanda?" Olivia questioned. She pulled her glasses off and sat them on her desk before standing and moving to her heavily pregnant girlfriend.
"Hey... So, we gotta go," Amanda spoke, as she reached out and brushed a lock of hair away from Olivia's neck.
"Where? Amanda, did you forget about another appointment?" Olivia sighed, slightly annoyed with Amanda. She ensured her girlfriend had plenty of sticky notes to write herself reminders around the apartment, yet Amanda still forgot almost everything.
"No, I didn't. It's just that my water broke at home, and we need to head to the hospital," Amanda replied, ignoring her girlfriend's annoyance.
"W-what?" Olivia whispered, her heart pounding hard in her chest.
"Liv, we are going to be moms soon. Can we go?" Amanda asked. Olivia nodded slowly as tears welled in her dark brown eyes.
"We finally get to meet our baby," Olivia whispered.
"Yeah, we do," Amanda smiled. She reached out and caressed Olivia's cheeks for a moment, before leaning close and kissing her lips.

Olivia put Fin in charge before leaving the precinct with Amanda. On the car ride to the hospital, Amanda was dealing with the contractions pretty well. She would groan a little, but most of the time she'd be able to talk through.
"Did you decide what you wanted to name her?" Olivia asked as she held Amanda's hand while they waited at a stoplight.
"We still haven't agreed to one, Olivia. I'm not naming her without your help," Amanda replied, as she looked at her girlfriend. Olivia turned to look at her and smiled softly, before drawing their joined hands to her lips.
"So I guess it's between about ten different names?"
"Yes, it is..." Amanda trailed off as her body tensed up and her grip on Olivia's hand tightened.
"You are doing great, baby. Just keep breathing and we will meet our baby girl soon."
Once at the hospital, Amanda was sent upstairs to get admitted and examined. Olivia went outside for a few moments and called Dodds.
"Benson?" He questioned, answering the call. Olivia took a shaky breath as she rubbed the back of her neck.
"Hi. Uh, I just wanted to inform you I had to put Fin in charge because... Amanda is in labor and I'm at the hospital with her," Olivia struggled to speak. Telling someone else that Amanda was in labor was making this more real for her.
After years of being alone, she was finally with someone she loved more than anything else, and was about to become a mother.
"How is she doing?"
"Uh, good. She's strong and is handling the contractions pretty well... Were you scared when your boys were born?" Olivia questioned, regretting it the moment she asked. Dodds chuckled softly from his side of the call as Olivia heard the sound of him leaning back against his leather desk chair.
"Olivia, it's terrifying to bring another human into this world. As cops, it's even harder because we know what people are capable of. As you and Amanda expand your family, each baby's arrival will be a little less scary," Dodds replied.
"I think this one might be the only one. Amanda had a hellish first trimester and I don't want to put her through that again," Olivia sighed.
"You never know, you may want to give it a shot yourself. Either way, I wish you and Amanda good luck today and I'll be praying for you. Your parental leave can start tomorrow. Okay?"
"Parental leave? I was going to use PTO," Olivia replied.
"The NYPD is changing, Olivia. As this baby's mother, you deserve time to bond with her, just like Amanda does. So enjoy the next two weeks off. If you need more, just ask."

Amanda's back and hips ached as she slowly swayed and waited for Olivia to join her. Even if it was taking Olivia a while to join her, she knew her girlfriend hadn't left her behind. Olivia needed time to prepare herself for what was about to happen, just like Amanda needed to.
"I apologize for taking a while, Mandy. I forgot lunch and needed to grab a quick protein bar and call Dodds."
"Dodds?" Amanda asked as she reached a hand out to her girlfriend. Olivia quickly tossed their hospital bags onto the couch before walking to where Amanda stood. She kissed her girlfriend before moving to stand behind her.
"I needed to tell him what was happening, and I found out that I get two weeks of parental leave to bond with the baby and take care of you. I'll take more time off because I'd hate to leave you alone so soon after our daughter is born," Olivia replied, her hands moving to Amanda's hips. She applied even pressure and heard Amanda let out a sigh of relief.
"That feels great. Keep doing that," she replied breathlessly.
"Your wish is my command," Olivia replied.
For hours, Olivia rubbed Amanda's back and hips as Amanda's contractions got closer together. Ten minutes apart quickly turned into two minutes apart. One push of the call button later, the room was filled with nurses as the on-call doctor instructed Amanda what to do.
"Amanda, look at me," Dr. Hilton spoke, as he looked up at Amanda.
"T-this is too hard. I can't do it anymore!" Amanda cried as tears poured down her flushed cheeks. Olivia locked eyes with Dr. Hilton before leaning down close to her girlfriend.
"Mandy, you did the hardest part already. Our baby's head is out, now it's time for her shoulders. You are incredibly strong and need to tap into any additional strength to get her out. In a few minutes, we could be holding our daughter and finally deciding on her name. So please, baby. Push as hard as you can, and you will finally be rewarded for all the hard work you've done."
