Eula: "Ah, you're up rather early this morning, Y/N. I have just finished preparing a little something for breakfast. Please, take a seat and help yourself. You slept well, I hope?"
Y/N: "Hmm... I... y–Yeah, well enough, I guess? I got enough sleep to be capable for whatever the day may bring at the very least!"
Eula: "...You look upset. Might it perchance be because of whatever that Kokomi girl had spoken to you about last night?"
Y/N: "Huh? How did you—?"
Eula: "Eira informed me whilst I... *ahem* whilst I was with her. She mentioned that the young Priestess asked to discuss some things with you. And you seemed rather quiet when you returned to our room last night as well, so I assumed that... is everything alright? What did she say to you? Must I seek vengeance against her in your name?!"
Y/N: "I... I still don't really know... She told me some strange things, some really outlandish things. And yet... they made some kind of sense to me. They filled in some gaps for me that I could never fill before, even when I was back in Liyue..."
Eula: "And yet you do not seem particularly happy about this revelation."
Y/N: "It's just... Well, it's been a little while since I felt like I could just trust what people say to me, you know? I, well... I lost the ability to still be that innocent when the people I lived amongst had started calling for my head. So when some random person I've never met before claims that she knows my true homeland to be one that I have no memories of."
Eula: "The Traveller said she was from Inazuma, right? Is that the same nation that she claims to be your origin?"
Y/N: "It's even deeper than that... *sigh* But I don't want to even think about it right now. I was hoping for just a pleasant trip with my two cryo-inclined friends— albeit in search of that missing cousin of yours— but now there's all... well, this."
Eula: "It does seem to be rather troubling. Perhaps upon our return to Mondstadt we might look into it more? That way, knowing that you will have the chance to research it further in a safe place, you will have the peace of mind so as to allow yourself to simply put it beside us for the time being so that you can best enjoy your time on leave."
Y/N: "...I just can't stop thinking about it though..."
Eula: "I can see. Hmm..."
The two of us had been sat at the table in the rather large dining room that we found within the lodging that Idyia had supplied to us. Each of us with a rather meticulous serving of foods that Eula had prepared for us both to partake of. Even though she seemed surprised to see me awake so early, she had evidently expected me to wake up this soon; what with the fact that she had cooked enough food for us both, and my crockery for the meal had been arranged in advance...
And I really wasn't lying either, when I said that I couldn't stop thinking about what that Kokomi girl had said to me. Watatsumi Island? Enkanomiya? I knew nothing of these places, and yet she seemed so certain that what she said was the truth. And all those terms she used... I didn't know what any of them meant. I couldn't get any of it out of my head, all those things she had said were bouncing around inside my mind, leaving me without much focus to spend on reality past using my fork to push around the food on my plate...
* pomf *
And because of that I didn't even notice that Eula had gotten up and out of her seat and walked around over to my chair. Or at least I assumed it to be Eula who was now standing at the back my chair and draping their arms around me from behind. I wasn't left with the chance to doubt for long, as the softly spoken words uttered beside my ear that came next were quick to guarantee that it was in fact my partner whom was now attempting to comfort and distract me from my thoughts.
