Garde: "Monsieur Neuvillette! We've just received word from the Fortress of Meropide that there has been some sort of intrusion via the south external wall. An armed intruder has made their way inside and is currently confronting the Duke."

Neuvillette: "And what of the status of the Fortress? Have they issued an evacuation?"

Garde: "No, sir. They said there is currently no threat of flooding, it would seem that the hole has already been sealed. And there is currently a ceasefire whilst the Duke confers with the intruder in his office."

Neuvillette: "Fetch Clorinde at once! I will make my way down into the Fortress."

Arlecchino: "Allow me to accompany you, Iudex. My children are down there, I cannot allow them to meet any harm."

Neuvillette: "That will be quite unnecessary, nor would it be permitted, as per the established rulings. You need not be concerned, I shall handle this matter personally. But perhaps you might consider fetching miss Eira from wherever she is being held in the meantime? I suspect that the demands for your Children of the Hearth's safety will likely be for her immediate return into Y/N's custody."

Arlecchino: (

* NEUVILLETTE'S POV *

There was no doubt in my mind that this "armed intruder" was indeed the newly arrived Knight Y/N from Mondstadt. And Lady Arlecchino seemed to have also come to a similar conclusion as I had. But I suppose it was the most logical conclusion. After all, for this event to happen so suddenly, and without warning, within the same timeframe as those from Mondstadt had arrived looking for clues to their missing person... and not to mention that of the few bargaining chips that might exist for their cause against Lady Arlecchino, three of them were currently held within the Fortress.

Even if there were not rules that forbade her entry, I doubt I would have allowed for Lady Arlecchino to enter the Fortress of Meropide. Her direct involvement would likely result in a less than peaceful resolution to this dilemma, and with what I know of Y/N, I would much rather not risk enraging them in such a precarious location as the Fortress...

Garde: "Monsieur Neuvillette? We have tried to reach Champion Duellist Clorinde, but it seems she is already within the Fortress of Meropide as per the request of the Duke."

Neuvillette: "Is that so? That certainly expedites things... Thank you for informing me of this, I best go and join them both it would seem."

Garde: "Of course, Monsieur Neuvillette!"

Having already dismissed themselves, I found myself without company once more. But left to ponder the need for Clorinde's presence within the Fortress before any mention of Y/N's intrusion. Were they perhaps made aware of the incident before it occurred? Or is this due to an entirely unrelated incident? Perhaps regarding Childe, or of the Traveller? Hmm...
