Dumilat ako.

"About what?" Pa-inosente kong tanong.

Isang buntong-hininga ang pinakawalan niya.

"I'm sorry about earlier. Those were just my colleagues, I don't like them that much. I'm sorry if you felt ambushed--"

A sarcastic laugh escaped my lips. Hindi ko na mapigilan ang sarili.

"Really, Valen? You don't like them that much, and you slept with them?" I could hear pure acid in my voice.

I looked away from his intense stare.

"Fuck..." Kumunot ang noo ko when I heard the laughter in his voice, "That's what you're mad about?"

I stopped myself from floating. I stood still in the pool and looked at him. Does he think this is freaking funny? Is sex really this normal to him?

"Hindi ako galit," I said, glaring at him, "And frankly, I don't care how many people you've slept with."

Nagtiim ang bagang ko nang nakitang naka ngising aso siya. He chuckled again at my expression.

"You're jealous. Is that it, Lara Celeste?" The side of his lips rose.

I glared at him more.

"I'm not! Again, I don't care about the people you--"

"I didn't sleep with them, Lara," Aniya. His eyes darkened as he surveyed my face, "I haven't slept with anyone. Haven't I made it clear that I don't do casual hook-ups?"

My eyes narrowed at him.

"Shut up, Valen, I can see that some of those people were your fuck buddies. 'Oh, Valen! Nagtatampo ako! We had such a great time in Siquijor!'" I exaggerated my voice in the second part to emphasize what I heard earlier.

The side of Valen's lips rose again.

"I don't do fuck buddies, Lara, I already told you this. Ganyan ba talaga ang tingin mo sa akin? That I would sleep around with colleagues? We had fun while we were shooting at a location. We had some beers and went dancing. We were never alone. We always traveled as a group!" He barked.

Napatigil ako. I've completely stopped swimming. Valen and I are now in what seems like a Mexican stand-off. My breathing was intense as I stared back at him.

"I don't believe you, Valen. Those people were so attractive and flirty. I don't believe you've never been sexually attracted to them--"

"I'm attracted to you," He said, as a matter-of-factly.

My heart fluttered.

"Shut up, Valen. I don't believe you've never messed around or slept with anyone recently."

He stared at me pointedly.

"I've never messed around or slept with anyone since I met you, Lara."

I stopped. But we've known each other for... three years now? Is he telling me that he's never kissed or touched anyone?

"There has been no one else since you, Lara," He said as if he read my mind.

Valen took his shirt off in one swift move and submerged himself in the pool. Our eyes were glued to each other as he made his way to me... his movements were precise and slow... like a predator making its way to the prey.

"Liar," I challenged.

He smiled.

"There's only you..." He answered as he finally reached for me.
