Whoever he was fighting was an escapee from the prison and when he got far enough outside the walls his powers came back, Barry was lucky she'd gotten there on time. Elaine had just pulled into the parking garage by their headquarters and was in the process of parking when she heard Barry speak up.

He'd been clutching onto her waist the entire time, holding onto her like a lifeline, and only let go when she made to stand up. He didn't move from where he was sitting on her bike until she reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder. Mournful eyes looked up at hers and from where she was hovering above him Elaine could see the green flecks of his eyes. Barry's jaw was slack and his eyes were watery.

He reached out a hand and grasped her wrist for a moment, and then tentatively moved her hand so that it cupped his face.

Elaine moved so both her hands were on his face and began stroking his cheeks. His fingers gingerly wrapped around her wrists, and for a moment the only thing she could find in his gaze was questioning concern but that disappeared after she smiled at him.

Barry absolutely broke when she smiled at him.

" Oh Barry."

She gently tugged him up and wasted no time in wrapping her arms around him. Barry sobbed into her shoulder and whined, he hiccuped and then pulled back for a moment. Through red and blotchy eyes he saw Elaine reaching out for his hands and gently took them in his own.

" That was my dad,"  he choked out, " I know it wasn't him but— god he looked just like him."

He let her pull him back into her body and made quick work to wrap his arms around her. Barry needed to feel that cold she had, he knew she wouldn't understand but he needed to know he was there.

Barry needed something to show him that he was there and not back in his old house watching Zoom shove a hand through his father's heart. He needed something to pull him back in. The second he'd gotten to the prison and went to keep him from running farther he'd been hit with a painful string of memories.

He'd known where he was, he knew where he was, but seeing a man who looked just like his father lunge at him with powers had a way of snapping you somewhere else.

Fuck, he thought as he buried his face in the crook of her neck, I could've died if they didn't call her.

Barry came to a skidding stop at the edge of the prison and let his sassy little superhero mask slip into place.

Oh man, this is going to be easy, the good ol' snatch and drag.

He smirked at the man with his back to him and put his hands on his hips, " You're a long way away from Cellblock-C aren't you Mr. Rosewood?" The man grunted but didn't turn around and Barry got a good look at his back while he waited, he knew he could've sped away and got him back in if he wanted to but something about being back out there made him pause. He wanted to have a little fun first.

That sentence was one he would later regret thinking.

Barry's grin turned out to be contagious because the man turned around and had a grin the size of The Jokers on his face as he launched an attack at Barry. He could manipulate the fucking air.

Oh god, Barry doubled over and wheezed, feeling the oxygen stream out of his lungs. The bastard had started suffocating him so fast that he barely had enough time to register whose face that was.
