When her phone finally rang, she jumped at it, thinking it was Milo.

But instead, it was her best friend from home, Emily. One of the few people she actually kept in touch with after leaving her Arizona town.

Isabelle's heart sank momentarily, disappointment washing over her as she answered the call.

"Hey, Isabelle, how's your day been?" Emily's cheerful voice filled the airwaves.

Isabelle tried to muster up some enthusiasm, even though her mind was preoccupied with thoughts of Milo. "Oh, you know, the usual. Just had a quiet day off."

Emily, always perceptive, sensed something was amiss. "Is something bothering you, Belle? You don't sound like yourself."

Isabelle hesitated, debating whether to confide in her friend. She and Emily had been through thick and thin together, and she trusted her with her innermost thoughts. With a sigh, Isabelle decided to come clean.

"Yeah, Em, something's been on my mind. It's Milo. We had a bit of a rough patch today..."

And with that, Isabelle, for hte first time, truthfully told the wole story of her budding romance with the photaographer.

And it felt so good - to come clean to somebody outsdie of hte pcture. To get a grounded, clear eyed persepctive.

Emily listened attentively as Isabelle recounted the events of the morning and the lingering doubts that had plagued her throughout the day. Isabelle's voice wavered with uncertainty as she spoke, her vulnerability laid bare before her friend.

After everything was said and done, Isabelle was surpirsed at how good she felt. She almost forgot to feel bad about Milo not having called that night.

After a thoughtful pause, Emily responded, "I'm sorry to hear that, Belle. But remember, every relationship has its ups and downs. Communication is key, you know that. Maybe it's time to have an open and honest conversation with Milo. Find out what's going on from his perspective."

Isabelle nodded, even though Emily couldn't see her. "You're right, Em. I just hope he's willing to talk and that we can work through this."

As they chatted further, Isabelle's heart began to feel a bit lighter. Emily's words of wisdom and support were a balm to her troubled soul. She realized that opening up to her friend had been a step in the right direction, a reminder that she wasn't alone in this journey.

After hanging up with Emily, Isabelle decided to take her friend's advice to heart. She picked up her phone and sent Milo a text, asking if they could meet up to talk. It was time to bridge the gap, clear the air, and see if their budding relationship could weather the storm of doubts and uncertainties that had clouded their path.
