SUNNY let out a sigh of relief as he and BASIL lied on the floor of BASIL's bedroom. It was quiet. Just how SUNNY liked it.

"I wonder how it feels to see out of one eye..."

BASIL blurted out that random thought. SUNNY looked over to give BASIL a questioning look, but he noticed, for a split second, BASIL looked calm.

For once, his shoulders weren't tense, his eyes weren't darting around the room awkwardly, his breath wasn't shaky, he didn't look uncomfortable, he didn't stutter or sound unsure. He was actually calm.

But again, it only lasted for a second.

"O-oh!!! I'm s-so s-sor-sorry!!! I...I s-sh-shou-shouldn't've s-sa-said t-tthat!!! I-i'm t-the r-reason y-you're l-like that!!!"

Yep. That's BASIL for you. SUNNY sat up, BASIL noticed this and sat up too. SUNNY got up, no, this wouldn't end like last time. BASIL, thinking it would, seemed worried.

SUNNY grabbed his bookbag out the corner of BASIL's room and sat back down beside his worried best friend.

The backpack just had some notebooks, spare eyepatches and some other crap.

He took out one of the spare eyepatches and set it in his lap.

"W-wh-what's that f-for?" BASIL was nervous, probably praying SUNNY wasn't going to change his eyepatch. And he wasn't, he had something else in mind.

SUNNY mentally stook up his L's, trying to tell his left from his right. Then he remembered that his eyepatch was on his right eye and his right was BASIL's left, so his left was BASIL's right. Confusing, I know.

He picked up the eyepatch and held it above BASIL's right eye so he'd understand what SUNNY was doing. BASIL didn't get it at first. You could just see the cogs slowly turning in that pretty little head...He stared at the ground nervously, SUNNY saw an expession on BASIL's face. That same one he couldn't read...The expression that confused SUNNY and made him nervous himself.

BASIL looked back up at SUNNY, those pretty baby blues of his...He fidgeted with his fingers as he nodded.

"Oh.. Ah.. Uhm... O-okay... S-s-sure."

BASIL didn't sound like he was too sure...SUNNY just wanted to do a dumb and silly little experiment. He had nothing better to do. Absolutely nothing.

And BASIL mentioned wanting to know what it was like to only see out of one eye. Just a silly experiment.

So watching BASIL's expression when SUNNY put the eyepatch over BASIL's right eye was priceless. SUNNY took a mental image of that expression and put it to memory. BASIL was just so fucking cute. He loved that boy.

But in a very non-gay way.

Anyway, BASIL seemed lost. Confused. Maybe even uneasy. SUNNY couldn't really tell.

"Woah...I..Uhh..T-this is what you s-see everyday??"

And SUNNY loved the obvious questions with obvious answers.

.....

He missed this. He missed how things used to be. This right here felt good to have after so long. Just him and BASIL...Messing around.

Just him and his best friend, doing dumb things like 12 year olds would.

Just him and that blond kid, refusing to act their age.

So, in that case, two 16 year olds acting like they're 12.

And god, how he loved this.

He watched BASIL slowly get up, shaky and wobbly. BASIL stood there for a second, obviously confused. He looked down at SUNNY, who was still sitting down.
