It never left.

SUNNY woke up, the sun shining right in his eye. Using his arm to block the rays of light, he sat up.

God, sleeping on the floor was not good for his back. KEL had offered to let him use his bed before, but SUNNY had to be honest..KEL's bed wasn't the nicest to sleep on either.

If he had to choose a bed, it'd be-

"SUNNY! You're up!" KEL interrupted SUNNY's thoughts.

He watched as the taller boy rushed around his side of the room, cleaning it.

"AUBREY wants us to hang out! But my mom said I have to clean my side of the room before I can leave." KEL stops, smiling to himself. "You hear that, SUNNY?... AUBREY suggested it herself. I didn't even have to ask..She must like us more now!"

For a reason SUNNY couldn't place his finger on, that made him..happy. Him and Aubrey have had their...Fights..Sure, but..At least she still seemed to consider him..her friend. And that meant a lot.

As KEL finishes, he tries to go back to sleep. Surely he could get a few extra minutes, right? "Hey SUNNY? Do you think you could go fetch BASIL? I don't think AUBREY wants to, and you're closer to him! He'll always say yes to you!"

Is that all we're using me for? A lure for BASIL?

SUNNY wasn't being too serious with his snarky thoughts, but it was humorous to imagine. Him just being some sort of bait. Well, at least he found it funny.

"I'll pay you back for bothering you, promise!" KEL added on.

SUNNY knew KEL would do no such thing, as KEL still owed him 40 bucks. 20 for that one bet and that one time he borrowed 20 bucks over a year ago.

No, SUNNY did not let that go.

Yawning and stretching, he got up, his back absolutely killing him. Going into the side pocket of his backpack, he grabbed that one bracelet BASIL gave him and slipped it on his wrists. He never wore it to sleep except that one time because he was scared he'd break it.

SUNNY slid his shoes on, preparing to leave the room, but KEL stopped him.

"Hey..SUNNY? Uh..Last time..When we all hung out..I..Uh..I didn't want to bring it up but... AUBREY..She..She had this scar on her neck..I was wondering if you knew anything about it."

Shit.

That might've been his doing that one time, but hey, she said some pretty nasty things to BASIL.

He shrugged so he could leave the situation alone.

SUNNY had never gone down a flight of stairs that fast in his life like he did in that moment. He wasn't sure why. Maybe it was the fear of KEL pressing the situation because he probably had his suspicions.

As he walked outside he listened to the birds, regretting not taking his earbuds out here. Music would be nice.

Ignoring the fact he had regrets, he continued his way down the sidewalk. He counted the cracks silently.

34, 35...36.

Someone needs to repair these.

Although he ultimately knew nobody would, it was just a thought.

Making his way over to BASIL'S house, he knocks on the door. He wasn't really expecting a response. He wasn't sure if anyone was even home.

But POLLY opened the door. "Oh! Hi there SUNNY! Thank God you're here."

There's no need for that, but alright.

He wished his brain would let him say that aloud.

"Come in, come in!" She seemed in a rush, and SUNNY didn't like wasting people's time, so he walked in quickly.
