He was right in front of you, and somehow you feel so many emotions at once.

Fear, confusion, relief?

Savitar approaches, and this time he isn't wearing that silver armor that brings terror. You just see the distinctive scar.

"T-They said you were gone.."

He's wearing that scowl that seems to be constantly planted on his face.

"It was a trick right. You said all those things because you knew how I would react. You knew I would retreat."

You swallow, because it's clear from his posture that he's pissed. His eyes mark you like a predator about to strike. You should make a run for your phone to alert the team. Move, scream, something. You've lost the ability to breathe.

"This was all his plan wasn't it!"

His tone is sharp, and you swallow.

"I-It wasn't."

Your voice is so soft, but you can't help it.

"None of them knew. I-I never told anyone."

Somehow you feel like crying again. Not because of fear, but embarrassment. You feel pathetic, clinging onto someone you knew you could never have.

"You really expect me to believe that after I tried to kill everyone you still love me. "

A single tear runs down your cheek, and Savitar finds himself unsure now.

"I-I'm sorry.."

He doesn't get why you're apologizing.

"I should hate you, you're the enemy but I..all I can think about is trying to save you. Because you're not evil. You're just in pain. Just like me.."

He doesn't truly understand this. How can you look at him with so much care when he was just moments away from cutting down you and your entire team. He can't truly recall the last time someone has looked at him this way.

Your hand lifts, and he can spot the hesitation. When it touches his skin, he tells himself he should run. Pull away. Get away, but he doesn't want to. Because it feels good.

You feel good.

"Will you..let me save you?"

He swallows.

How is he supposed to answer that question?

"Do you really think that your team of super righteous friends are going to just let me stroll into their lives?" Savitar pulls back, and you can see the wall going up.

He's not wrong. They aren't just going to let him in with a smile and cookies There's even a part of you that holds some contempt. He was hurting, that's true. But Iris is somewhere you care deeply about. It's hard to find a release for your fears when you aren't always sure where to place them.

"Do you want to change? Do you want a chance to show that you can make up for what you've done? Because if not there's nothing I can do for you. You threatened my family. Pain or not, that's unacceptable. If you don't want my help, then you should probably just leave."

He's stunned at the statement.

"What power do you have to tell me what to do, last time I checked you aren't even a meta."

His words feel like a taunt.

"You're right. I'm not, but don't think for a second that I'll go down without a fight."

He just tilts his head.

"I guess we'll see."
