It seems like hours pass by where Bellamy continues to attempt to open his cage door using pure strength.  I want to tell him it's useless, but it's also quite refreshing to see someone have some sense of hope around here.

There's a beep as the double doors start to open.

"They come!" I whisper-yell to Bellamy to try and get him to stop.

He rattles the door, not stopping.

I curl into myself, feeling the usual fear that comes once the scientists enter the room.  "Quiet!" I say in a hushed voice, begging him to stop,

Finally, he lets go of the cage door and leans back against the hard metal bars.

The guard that enters with a scientist has his eyes directed at me.  He walks straight up to my cage and I tense, pushing myself impossibly further into the corner of my cage.

"Yep, this one will do," the scientist says to the guard, his eyes also on my trembling figure.

I suck in a breath, preparing myself for the hard and unforgiving touch of the guard as he sticks a key into the lock.

Bellamy yells out and kicks against his cage door violently, dragging their attention away from me.  I close my eyes tightly for a moment and say a silent prayer in my mind.

The guard pauses, turning to look at Bellamy.  He takes the key out of the lock.  "We've got us a live one."

The scientist takes out one of their electricity  sticks, pokes it through Bellamy's cage, and shocks him.  Bellamy cries out, falling limp for a second.

My breathing becomes shallow.  I'm glad he drew their attention away from me, but I feel awful guilt at the thought of his first blood draining.

They open his cage and he makes a move toward the guard, getting cut short by another shock.

I wince, gripping onto the bottom bars of my cage.

They stick a needle in his shoulder and he falls unconscious almost instantly.  I watch silently as they drag him out and begin the usual procedure of flipping him upside down and sticking tubes into his skin.

Once the scientist and the guard leave, I let go of the bars beneath me and move them to the side of my cage, looking through the metal to watch as blood travels from Bellamy's body into the big machine.

It should have been me hung up there right now.  I would have been half-dead for another week, scientists keeping me from death because of the fact that I have been one of the more valuable test subjects to them.  I do not deserve to live for letting this sky man take my place.  I don't want to live.  I haven't for a long time now, it feels like.

My face scrunches up and I feel wetness on my cheeks.  I bring a hand up to my face and then look down.  The liquid is clear.  Not blood.  I'm crying.

I haven't had the energy to cry since I've arrived to this strange hell.  Not a clue as to why I'm crying now, I wipe away the tears with both hands.  Perhaps I felt some sort of safety from the sky man and I'm sad now because he's going to die.  They all die.

Unexpectedly, the door beeps again and in walks a girl that looks to be only a little bit younger than me.  She's got dark hair and pale skin.

A concerned look passes over her face as she scans Bellamy.  She bends down to look at his face for a moment and then starts looking at something on the metal table to the side of his body.  She picks something up, walks over to Bellamy, and gently stabs it into his leg.

Bellamy gasps for air, suddenly reviving and now fully awake.  The girl squats down, face-to-face with Bellamy.

"Who are you?" she asks.
