Octavia and I returned back to Arkadia that same day and reported what Lexa had said back to Kane and Chancellor Abby.
Two days later, Bellamy returned back with his crew on an order from Chancellor Abby telling them to leave Mount Weather with the supplies they currently had.
I spot him walking back through the gate now. My hair, two braids leading into one, flaps against my back as I sprint toward him. He engulfs me in a tight hug and we stay like that until Octavia catches up to us.
She's smiling. "Welcome back, big brother." Bellamy releases me and hugs his sister, his eyes never leaving mine.
They pull apart and Octavia leaves to go help carry in supplies.
"How are you?" asks Bellamy. His eyes scan over my face, torso, arms, and legs to check for any sign of injury or anything wrong. When his eyes meet mine again, I'm grinning like some sort of idiot.
Octavia really was right about us.
"I have been good. Octavia and I were successful in talking to Lexa and Indra, as you know," I tell him.
He nods and we begin to walk together. "And it's good that you did. Any other updates from the last few days?"
I think about telling him about what Octavia said about us, but I gather that there is a time and place for that sort of conversation and it's not right now. "Lexa says Lincoln is banished from Trikru."
"I thought Indra had pardoned him?"
"Nou (not) officially. She changed her mind about him. They were not happy about you guys being at Mount Weather," I say. "How was Mount Weather?"
His eyes drop to the ground and he bites his lip for a second. "Clean up was hard. But worth it, for all that we were able to gather from the mountain."
I study his face, still walking next to him. He notices his eyes on him and looks over. We stop walking. I think I stop breathing for a second.
Then I clear my throat. "Want to get changed and meet me by the gate in 10? We can go for a walk."
He cheers up again and matches my soft smile. "Alright."
_______
Ever since I woke up in Arkadia, I've been provided clothes I will be comfortable in, mostly through Octavia. Today that includes a thick jacket that closes with a double bucket in the front, a layered ripped tank top, a pair of cargo pants with many pockets to keep weapons in, and some hard-soled boots that are flexible to run and walk in.
I wear this as I wait for Bellamy to get to the gate. I've already asked Kane for permission to go out and he granted me access, telling me the usual deal of staying safe and alert.
In my head, I have it planned out about how I'm going to talk to Bellamy about how much it means to me that he allowed me into his home and let me stay in Arkadia even while being an 'outsider' whom many of his people see as the enemy. Then I was going to lead it into a conversation about how I feel about him and how I've felt this way for a while, only I've just realized it recently. But that is a lot of talking, and when I have to talk for a while I start to get my words all mixed up in English and I'm not sure-
"Hey."
I turn around, now face-to-face with Bellamy. I greet him with a smile. "Hi."
So Bellamy and I leave through the gate, engaged in casual conversation. It's like he knows something is up and somethings changed. I hope I'm not scaring him off.
"The color green is great, but I have seen it everywhere my whole life," I'm saying as we come to the creek leading into a small pond.
"Yeah, which is why your favorite color is yellow," he says. He remembers. Of course he does. He remembers everything about me.
I stop talking, staring at the creek. I glance at Bellamy and then back to the water while I start untying and taking off my boots.
"What are you doing?" he's trying to sound serious, but a smile is creeping up onto his face.
I shrug off my jacket, laying it down on the grass. "Going swimming. It's supposed to be one of the last warm days before winter."
I march right into the water and sink down so that my head is the only thing out of the water. "In my village growing up, there was a tradition where we would all take one last swim in the lake by our home." I mentally high-five myself for getting all the words in that sentence correct.
Bellamy chuckles and takes off his boots and guard jacket, setting his stuff next to mine. He walks in slowly, trying to adjust to the cold water, but I grab his hand and pull him in.
There's a splash and then he comes back up to the surface, pushing his curly wet hair out of his face. "I was getting in!"
"Not fast enough."
Before I can register what he's doing, there's a splash of water sent directly to my face. I splash him back and then we're both engaged in a splash war, swimming around and attacking each other with water playfully.
He picks me up by the waist, lifts me up, and then tosses me back into the water. I come back up for air, laughing. I jump up and push his shoulders down so his whole body gets submerged by water and then he grabs me, hands on my hips as we face each other in the water.
There's small water droplets on each of his eyelashes and he looks downright gorgeous in the natural lighting of the sun. I could stare for hours, except I notice the way he's staring at me. I think back to when Bellamy said my confused head-tilts we're puppy-like and that word is the only thing I can think to describe how he's looking at me now.
My hands are resting on his broad shoulders. "Bellamy-"
His hands pull me in by my hips and his lips are on mine. I move my own hands up into his hair and kiss back, all of the tension leaving my body. I am so relieved I did not have to say that big long speech I had planned.
As our mouths move against each other, his hands slide to press against my back and keep me flush against him. I feel his fingers slide under my tank top and to my lower back.
We break apart for air, foreheads pressed against each other. "I have wanted that - wanted you - for so god damn long," is all he says before connecting his mouth to mine again.
I swear that hours go by before we break apart again. My hand slides into his and I lead him to the shore. He wraps his arms around me again, like it's impossible not to touch me now, and pulls me down to the grass. His body hovers over mine now as he's kissing me again.
His hands are all over me and my hands are all over him and I know in this moment that I would rather die than have what's between us come to an end. His soft yet desperate touches tell me he's thinking the same thing.
My mouth leaves his again as one of my hands give his hair a soft tug. "We should go back to Arkadia."
He groans, lying down next to me with his arms behind his head.
"I feel... for you," I say, not knowing the right words.
He shifts over to his side, looking me in the eyes. "I feel for you too, Alexis." He pauses for a moment. "It's like something has been missing my entire life. Then the day I got you out of that mountain... you asked if you were safe. Klir." He smiles to himself. "And I decided then and there that you will never feel unsafe again. Not if I am here."
I match his smile. "Yu na always make ai feel klir (you will always make me feel safe)."
Then he kisses me again.
