"Long way from the Ark, huh?" Maya is pacing the same way Jasper was pacing earlier.
I'm back on the floor in the same spot. Octavia leans against a door.
"Not my Ark." Octavia's voice is disconnected. "I didn't have a view either."
"Still..." Maya stops her pacing to look out of the window on the door. "I wish I could see it."
Octavia goes on to talk about an 'airlock' back on this 'Ark' everyone has been talking about, and she loses my interest in the conversation.
I really need to work on my English.
Suddenly, a door on the other side of the room bursts open and in falls two teenagers making out, completely unaware of the three of us.
I push off of the floor, startled.
The two teenagers stop and look at us, expressions turning terrified. "Outsiders!" the teenage boys screams before they both run away.
Octavia moves to go after them, but Maya stops her. "Octavia, don't!" But Octavia breaks free and dashes after them.
I follow after Maya, unsure of what else to do.
At the other end of the hallway, three guards come running. Octavia throws a dagger into the chest of once, stabs another, and slashed the face of the last. A true warrior. I will like this Octavia.
More guards come around the corner.
"Run!" Maya yells.
Octavia and I join Maya in running and she leads us into a room filled with paintings, beautiful furniture, and a whole lot of people. People immediately start to notice; Octavia and I stick out like sore thumbs.
People cry out and more guards come around the corner, trapping the three of us in the center of the room.
I put my hands up, my back to Octavia and Maya. My heart beats fast in my chest and I'm once again certain of my death.
A guard grabs me and forces me to my knees and then all the way to the ground. My muscles ache and I'm very aware of how I've been relying on adrenaline to get me through the last few hours. There is nothing left in me.
An alarm begins to blare and all of the guards and mountain citizens around us begin to choke. Looking up, I see their faces develop red splotches and they begin to fall to the ground, dropping like flies.
Maya is on the ground as well, dying. Bellamy and the blonde girl must have done something to infect all of the Mountain Men with the radiation they can't live in.
Octavia pushes a guard off of her and goes to cradle Maya. "Maya? Maya!"
I sit on my knees and watch as everyone around Octavia and I fade away and die.
A mix of emotions swirls in my mind. These people have put me through unbearable pain the last few months, and they deserve to die horribly. But there is children around us as well. And Maya. Maya does not deserve to die like this after going through impossible lengths to aid Bellamy and I's people.
Jasper comes through the door and his eyes land on Maya's body. Octavia hands her over to Jasper and he's crying.
There's a lump in my throat and I am crying, too. Octavia and I make eye contact and her expression is unreadable. "I need to go save my people," she says to me before she's up and running out of the room.
I don't know what to do so I move my knees to my chest and wrap my arms around my legs, hugging myself and trying to make myself as small and unnoticeable by Jasper as possible.
The blonde girl, Bellamy, and another boy walk into the room. Jasper looks up, grief turning into pure anger. "What did you do?"
"We had no choice," says the blonde.
"I was going to kill Cage. If you had given me one more minute, it would've been over." His voice is trembling.
"Jasper," says Bellamy. "They never would've stopped."
The blonde nods. "We have to go to the dorm."
Bellamy's eyes land on my form and his gaze softens slightly. He carefully walks over and holds out his hand. I take it and he pulls me up and puts his arm under my shoulders to support me.
I go with the three of them to where they are keeping Bellamy's people. It's a room full of Skaikru and that should make me frightened, but I feel safe next to Bellamy, knowing that if he wanted to hurt me he would have left me to die in this mountain.
"Clarke," says a woman and the blonde girl runs up to hug her.
Clarke. Now I know how I know her. Lexa mentioned to us hunters that Clarke was the leader of Skaikru.
People all around the room are embracing each other and tears continue to run down my face, though I'm not sure why. I guess I'm relieved. This is all finally over. This horrible nightmare has an ending.
A man walks up to Bellamy and I. "You did good," he tells him and puts a hand on one of Bellamy's shoulders. "Now let's get these people home."
The man glances at me and his face is calm, not hostile and not questioning. He walks away. It takes a weight off of my shoulders. These people will help me and then I can return to Trikru. Pax couldn't have possibly been serious when saying that I would be making myself a traitor by re-entering the mountain to help Skaikru. Not that I was much help in my state.
"Are you okay?" Bellamy asks me sincerely.
"Mebi (Maybe)," I respond. "Beja (please), do not leave again."
"Don't worry," He says. "You can come back with us and we'll help you get back to full health. You're safe now."
"Klir (safe)," I say.
"Klir," he repeats back to me.
