Rain pelts my frame, dripping into my eyes as I follow Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy of all people. They speak in hushed tones below me, the two women oblivious to my presence.

"Cissy, you can't do this! He can't be trusted!" Bellatrix hisses to her sister.

"The dark lord trusts him." Narcissa reasons.

"The dark lord's mistaken." Anger flashes in my heart at Bellatrix's dishonor.

Children rush by in the streets below me and the sisters press their bodies against the stone walls of the alleyway. I grip the end of the roof carefully and watch them with a careful eye.

They continue inside to the door of a slat and I recognize the house. Professor Severus Snape's residence. They knock on the door and wait. Wormtail peeks from the door frame before the women are welcomed inside by the skidding man.

As they step inside I drop to the streets from the roof and place my foot between the door and its frame. Wormtail tenses and turns. I hold a finger to my lips and he glances at me through his brows as he bows and lets me inside.

I follow closely behind them as the sisters are led to a study in which Snape sits reading the newspaper. He flicks it down and I press myself against the wall outside the study.

"Run along wormtail." Snape seethes and with a flick of his hand, the door slams shut.

I bring out my wand and cast a simple spell so I can amplify their voices only to my ears. Sadly, Wormtail's ragged breaths are all the more easy to hear. I take my wand and force him from the hall so I can focus.

"I-I know I ought not to be here." Narcissa begins. "The Dark Lord himself forbade me to speak of this. . ."

"If the dark lord has forbidden it, you are not to speak." He says before reprimanding Bellatrix for snooping around his study. "As it so happens, I'm aware of your situation, Narcissa."

"You?" Bellatrix questions. "The dark lord told you?"

"Your sister doubts me," Snape says to Narcissa. "Understandable, over the years I have played my part well. So well I have deceived one of the greatest wizards of all time." Bellatrix snorts. "Dumbledore is a great wizard, only a fool would question it."

"I don't doubt you, Severus," Narcissa says.

"You should be honored Cissy, as should Draco," Bellatrix notes.

"He's just a boy." Narcissa almost begs and a pang of sympathy echoes in my chest before my father's anger stamps it out.

"I can't change the dark lord's mind," Snape says. "But it might be possible. For me to help Draco."

"Severus. . ." Narcissa says breathily.

"Swear to it." Bellatrix challenges. "Make the unbreakable vow. It's just empty words. He'll give it his best effort. But when it matters the most, he'll just slither back into his hole. Coward."

"Take out your wand." Severus chides.

I grin to myself. Oh, how father would love this news. I step into the room and lean against the doorframe, all eyes snapping to me. I sense their tense, almost scared demeanors. Except for Bellatrix, she smiles.

"Well, we'll, well." I taunt. "An unbreakable vow, how serious you are, Severus." I take a slow lap around the room. "How my father would love this."

"Verena. . ." Bellatrix greets me with an almost giddy expression.

"Bellatrix." I smile. "Don't you worry, I won't be telling my father." Narcissa's shoulders sag with relief. "But he will find out, eventually."

"What do you want, Verena?" Narcissa begs.
