Hearing those words had made her heart sink to her toes.
Sleep no longer danced at the corners of her mind, she was now wide awake.
Wanda. She was missing.
Fear and guilt stabbed at her heart like a dagger. She had told Wanda to meet her in the woods tonight.
She felt like the blood in her veins turned to ice.
Prince Loki had shot up, enquiring as to the information from the Knight whilst Loretta sat there, shock on her features as she was lost in her own mind.
How could she go missing? Her and Wanda knew these grounds like the back of their hands. They had years of sneaking off into the woods and gardens in the cloak of night.
Besides, more than that, Wanda was powerful. She was gifted. She could use those abilities to help her.
No Wanda had simply not gone missing.
Wanda must have been taken.
Loki's hands were suddenly on the Princess' shoulders, gently shaking her back to her senses, worry etched across his angular features.
She snapped back to reality. She had completely tuned out everything Quill had just said.
The two men looked at her imploringly, waiting for an eruption from the Princess over the fact her sister had disappeared.
Loretta's voice trembled as she dared to open her mouth.
"I was meant to meet her, at midnight in the woods. I...I lost track of time." She muttered, anxiety wrapping around her vocal chords.
Quill had a grim look on his face, Prince Loki too. He seemed to chide himself internally for distracting the Princess.
"I know. Pietro had caught her, she had told him she was meeting you. When she did not return within one strike of the clock as usual, he grew wary. He went to find her, searched the whole of the woods where you're known to frequent, but he came up empty. She has not returned to her chambers, nor have any of the guards seen her." Quill explained, wearing a tight lipped expression once he was done talking.
There was a strange charge in the air. The same from earlier. The kind that meant Loretta did not know something that was happening. Pushed out by men more powerful than her.
