COLE'S POV
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. I am not going to be able to keep my promise to Remo. I'm hating my lack of self control right now. I'm sitting in my statistics class counting down the seconds until lunch when I get to see Ria again. For the first time ever I'm actually going to look forward to chemistry of all things. This is extremely frustrating. I have never not been able to get someone out of my head. She's so beautiful and funny and sure of herself. Yes she's kind of a bitch but I like that too. She's a princess but not in the Cinderella way, more warrior princess. I can't find the words to dexcribe her and I really can't believe she was under my nose this whole time.
"Hey Vero." I lean forward and whisper to Dante's girl.
"What?" She responds quietly.
"Talk to me about your best friend." I whisper back.
Enrica turns around and puts her arm on my desk. "Why are you asking me? She's ridiculously close to one of your best friends, practically siblings. Just ask him." She smirks and raises an eyebrow at me. She clearly knows Remo would not be too happy with the idea of his cousin being with me.
I glance over at the teacher. She is putting in a movie so she doesn't give a shit what's going on in class at the moment.
"C'mon Ric help me out here?" I smile trying to win her over.
"I'd love to but I'm having a hard time functioning. My pores are awfully big today and I don't have the new Fenty Skin care line to fix it. So sorry." She pretend pouts at me.
I narrow my eyes at her and try not to smile. "How much is that?"
"$200 should do it." She smiles and holds out her hand.
I scoff and take cash out of my pocket. "You know your boyfriend would just buy this for you right? Your dad, would also just buy this for you."
She smiles and slips the hundred dollar bills in her purse. "Yeah but where is the fun in that?"
I chuckle a little "Is Ria like this?"
"No, I care more about her skin care than she does but mostly she just gets to look like that. Lucky bitch." She rolls her eyes. "She's not spoiled though. She feels like she needs to earn everything that she gets. She wants for nothing, but I've never heard her ask Mr. Bottero for a thing either. A materialistic thing at least. So not like my bougie ass at all." Enrica smiles
"What else?" I smile back hungry for info on this little blonde that's occupying my mind.
"Dancing, she loves it. She is conditioned to be a home body, so she can watch movies and t v shows for hours. She thinks "that's what she said" jokes are hilarious and never ask her a music question unless you have a good 45 minutes to spare."
"The music thing I picked up on." I laugh a little. "What kind of guys does she like?"
"The kind her cousin and I will kill if we find out they're fucking with her." She looks at me pointedly.
I meet her angry glare with one of my own but have to break eye contact when my apple watch lights up. It's a text from Sergio. T1, W, 15. It's in code because it's not on our burner phones. Means there's a tier 1 or top teir meeting at the warehouse at 3 p.m. I internally groan. I was up until 3am this morning. I get the feeling this is going to be another long night.
The next thought that pops in my head which has not been unusual today, is Ria. She came with Remo who won't have time to bring her home. I step out into the hallway not bothering to ask for a pass and call Sergio.
"Yeah?" he answers gruffly.
"Capo who would you like to escort Ria home?" I say getting to the point quickly. If she were mine I'd handle this all myself but she's not. Which I don't like.
Fuck. Vero?
Hw ignores the fact he neglected to tell me she was coming to school.
"She came with Dante he'd be at the meeting too."
Have Adamo take them both home. You'll be staying after the meeting.
He abruptly hangs up on me which is nothing new. I fucking knew I'd have to stay late.
I head back into the classroom to tell Frankie. I see him dead asleep with a puddle of drool on his notebook. How this dude ever gets laid is beyond me. Before I take the seat next to him I smack the back of his head to wake him up. He jolts awake grabbing his head making a couple people around him jump.
Enrica tries to hold back a snicker.
"Dude! What the fuck? Was that necessary?" He says rubbing his head.
"No" I say flatly. "You are taking the girls home. Surprise meeting right after school today." I am not giving him an opertunity to say no. I look at Enrica and she just nods.
"Ten four boss. Blondie seems cool." He says still rubbing his head.
"She is" I surpress my smile. Shaking her out of my head for the hundredth time I try to focus on The Imitation Game. It's an interesting movie but I don't know why we are watching it on the first day of school. I let my mind wander thinking of Ria and what these feelings I'm having could mean.
The bell rings signaling the end of class. I practically race to the cafeteria and scan the area looking for Ria. Her blonde hair definitely stands out here. Not seeing her yet, I head to our usual table to put my bag down before going to the line to buy food. I turn the corner to go grab a tray and a flash of platinum blonde catches my eye and then what I see makes my blood boil.
Mauro Russo has a grip on an upset Ria's arm and he pulling her down a hallway.
Who the fuck does Russo think he is? Not only talking to but putting his hands on my girl? Why am I calling her my girl?
