Chapter 74

RIA'S POV

I'm actually glad we have a quiet place to recoup. I calm myself down and look around. Avery is with Enrica and she is being looked at by Teddy. Dante is trying to calm a seething Remo down, Cole is bouncing between barking orders at the security that's here and ones on the phone and I'm just sobbing on Chloe. Frankie walks up to Chloe and kisses her head.

"Bubs will you stay with her? I want to go check on Avery?" She asks Frankie.

"I'm fine Chlo. You can go." I wipe my face.

"You're not getting left alone. I just see her trying to clean her bleeding knuckles and Enrica looks like she's going to puke."

That actually makes me laugh.

"I'm going tag Enrica out and send her over here in the meantime Frankie will entertain you."

"Are you sure mia cara? What if someone thinks we're dating now?" He says sarcastically, waving a finger between him and I.

Chloe smiles and rolls her eyes. "Somehow that's an even more unlikely pairing than her and Remo." She kisses him and walks over to Avery.

"You're not my type. Far too short for me." Frankie says to me.

I answer him with a weak smile.

"Sooooo... incest this upsetting to you?" Frankie's fun way of asking me why I'm crying.

I scoff and wipe my eyes again. "Yeah that's it. I saw a creepy x files episode when I was younger  with an inbred family. So if anyone even mention incest I get nightmares."

"The one where the mom was on wheels under the bed?"

I open my mouth shocked. "You've seen that?"

"Hello? Stoner." He points to himself. "We're known to be all about aliens and conspiracy theories."

"Maybe if you weren't all about weed I could have found you sooner." Enrica scolds Frankie while putting her arm around me giving me a hug.

"Hey your man smokes just as much as I do." Frankie says throwing his hands in the air.

Enrica just laughs. She still had her arm around me. She turns and looks at me. "No one thinks you were with Enzo." My stomach drops hearing his name again. "She was the fucking mob doll and he told her he hooked up with Deluca's girl after we ran into them in town. She thought you were the new her. No one knows what happened I promise. Neither one of them even knew your full name."

I breathe a little easier. "Thank you" I hug her back. I smile glad she knew why I was upset. I look around again. Avery is all patched up and talking to a groveling Remo, Frankie is making his way over to Chloe, Dante is headed towards us and Cole is still on the phone yelling in Italian. I'm not close enough to hear what he's saying.

"We still have the post prom party to go to if you guys are up for it?" Dante says once he reaches us. He wraps his arm around Enrica and rubs her arm affectionately.

I really don't want to go but I don't want to ruin anyone else's fun. More than I already have atleast.

"Are they?" I ask pointing with my chin at Remo and Avery.

"Yeah the only person I haven't asked is chuckles over there." Dante says referring to Cole.

"Well I'll let you go do your job and I'll go patch things up with my cousin." I smile.

"Sure you take the easy job." He rolls his eyes and we walk in opposite directions.

REMO'S POV

"Bebe you have to believe me I haven't been with anyone since we've been together." I'm literally on my knees in the corner of this conference room talking to my girlfriend.

"Remo we've been hooking up for almost two years now. Don't feed me that bullshit." She folds her arms and crosses her legs.

"You had a boyfriend almost immediately after we had sex for the first time." I snap at her.

"Ok and how long after that did you have someone else in your bed?" She srunches her face at me. The gold flecks in her light brown eyes are really standing out. She seems extra gorgeous when shs angry. "Comparing pasts is not the best idea for you right now. Unless you want to become part of mine? Tanga." She mumbles that last word under her breath and looks away from me.

"I'll admit that was a bad idea." I rub her hips. "I know I am an idiot, but I swear Ave ever since I asked you to be my girlfriend there hasn't been anyone else. You can ask Ria. You have to know she'd kill me if I did something that stupid."

Avery smiles at that. "I know she would. You should check on her. You know Enzo is a sensitive subject."

I love that she's thinking of others. She's too good for me. "I will bebe but I want to fix us right now." I cup both of her hands in one of mine and bring it to my lips.

"Did you sleep with her before of after you slept with me?" She asks coldly but grazes her thumb on my knuckles.

"I don't remember." I answer honestly.

"You dont remember sleeping with me?"

"I don't remember sleeping with her. Our first time I had to scale a building to get to your room. I didn't trust your dumb friends to take care of you and I was right."

"Hey be grateful. You wouldn't have gotten any if you weren't so sweet when I sobered up." She smiles at me.

"I'm grateful that you have better friends now." I smile at her.

"Yeah your friends." She giggles and rolls her eyes.

"Please they love you way more than they love me. Even Ri."

"I definitely know Chloe does." She smiles again and I feel a weight lifting off my shoulders.

"I can't do this again bebe." She says seriously. The weight is back on my shoulders. "I can't be confronted by every bop and made to feel like the bad guy."

"I know Ave you won't. I don't want that either." You can hear the desperation in my voice as I attempt to get her to stay.

"Their feelings are not more important than mine. I love that you want to be a good guy Momo but sometimes people need to be put in their place. It's unfair for me to be disrespected. Their happiness cannot be at my expense."

"Cool it on the nickname bebe." I widen my eyes and look around, teasing her. I'm rewarded with a small giggle. "You are right. If I thought for one second it would have escalated to this it would have been handled differently." I keep my hands on her hips still afraid that she's going to run away. "I don't see this situation happening again, but in the future they will be handled differently."

"I see it happening again." She rolls her eyes but plays with my hair.

"Move in with me." I say in a panic.

"Remo, I can't move in to the compound." She pulls her hand away from my face.

"No I mean let's get our own place you and me. Somewhere with a big yard so you can foster dogs. You can still take vet classes except now I won't be so nervous about you needing to stay in the city. No one will ever have guess how important you are to me. My woman is showcased and protected."

"My parents might cut me off if I do that." She looks down embarrassed.

"No they won't. Your dad is all bark and no bite. They said the same thing when we started dating and they love me now." They absolutely do not love me.

"Even if they do cut you off, so what? I got you. I got us. Please beb?" I'm actually pouting at this point.

"I can get a dog?" She asks excitedly.

"Keep them away from my closet and you can open your own rescue center." I smile at her.

"Ok." She smiles at me.

"Yeah?" I get this shit eating grin on my face.

"Yes bebe." She has a huge smile and is nodding.

"I'll start looking at houses tomorrow." I kiss her hard on the mouth.

She kisses me back cupping my face. This summer is going to be awesome.
