RIAS POV
I'm on high alert as soon as we get to the party. I don't know if it's from being afraid to see Cole or if it's from this brownie that Remo gave me, but either way I'm anxious.
I found myself missing Cole this whole week, which I hate. Remo has been telling me that Cole's been kind of a mess too, which I like. I shouldn't and that shouldn't make me feel better but it does.
Remo's been trying to get me to hear him out and I will. Not before I show him what he is missing though. I'm not a fling type of girl. He either needs to claim me or not. If not someone else will. I'm not ok with being his dirty little secret. He may be the Bottero crime family's next Don but I'm Sergio's actual daughter. I'll treat Cole the way my father taught me to treat all the "inaffidabile" as he would say. I can and will shut it all down and walk away. DeLuca would be dead to me.
We walk further into the house and Remo kisses my head.
"I'm going to go find the guys. Relax and no drinking." He says sternly and points his finger at me. I nod and watch as his mullet disapeers into the crowd.
"What do we do?" I ask Enrica while subtlety scanning for Cole.
"Let's go play flip cup or something while we wait for the guys to hunt us down."
She seems un interested in this party. She'll perk up when her boyfriend gets here. She secretly cannot wait for Dante to lose his mind over her outfit. I love their relationship. She is high maintenance and craves attention, and he is happy to maintain her and gives into all of her cravings.
We walk into in the pool house hand in hand and stand by one of the empty tables. I don't know anyone and already just want to go home.
"Loosen up mia regazza." Enrica says to me and rubs my arm affectionately. "You're safe. DeLuca is an idiot and said you weren't his girlfriend. He's in trouble you're not. Smile and have fun."
Just as I smile and give Ric a side hug, two guys approach us and ask if we want to play beer pong. One of the guys is dressed in all black and says that he's Johnny Cash and then the other guy has an even worse costume surprisingly. He's just wearing skinny jeans and some chucks with no shirt on saying he's Travis Barker. Lamest costumes every but I have never played before so this should be interesting even with these two clowns
"You'll need drinks though" Johnny Cash says.
"I'll go get them" I tell Enrica. I walk up to the bar. Jesus Cole, two full bars. It's stocked with lots of caffeine free sodas.
My stomach flutters. I know Remo must have told him no caffeine but the fact that he made sure I had options tonight made me miss him more. "I'll have a ginger ale and a Stoli strawberry and Sprite." I ask the bartender.
I carry the drinks back to the table. That brownie is hitting me a little more now so I'm smiling. I hand Enrica her cup and I can feel him before I see him. Turning around and I spot a very angry Cole. His eyes look all black again. And next to him, walking directly towards us looking equally as angry is Dante.
"Hey, you two...screw" Dante says to the guys.
"The table is ours." Johnny Cash says. I do a terrible job of hiding my shocked expression. I cannot believe the balls on this guy.
Cole gets in his face, his sexy 6'5 frame completely dwarfs Johnny Cash. "Excuse me? Would you like to run that by me again? The last time I checked everything in here is fucking mine. Now get the fuck away from our girlfriends."
The two other guys just walk away. Mumbling about pussy not being worth it.
The edible is wearing off but I can still feel it and I can't stop smiling over the fact that Cole called me his girlfriend. Why does it have to be so up and down with him? Cole walks directly in front of me. I can feel his body heat and he's not even touching me.
