As the sun was dipping down lower and lower I checked the time on my clock, 10:00pm an hour until I meet with Randy at his house. I changed into a t-shirt and jeans and debated wether I should bring a sweater or not. Eventually I decided against it and packed a couple coins, a flashlight, my cassete player,  and some snacks in my bag. By the time I was all set it was 10:40, so I figured I could start biking down to Randy's. My brother Danny was staying over at a friends house and my mum should be out for the night so I was all set. I slung my backpack over my shoulder and crept downstairs.

"Where do you think you're going?" A voice behind me murmured slurring the words a bit as I was about to open the front door.

I turned around to face the figure knowing deep down who had caught me red handed.

I stared back at my mother her body leaning heavily on the door frame drenched in the smell of alcohol.

"I'm going out to spend the night at Randy's house." I stated calmly. Although it wasn't necessarily the whole truth what she doesn't know can't hurt her right?

"This late at night?" She replied her words laced with venom as she pointed an accusing finger at me. She slowly wandered over to me and touched my face gently. The smell even more prominent than before.

"I don't want you to get hurt honey... and who knows what you do with that boy, you do hang around often."

"I told you mom I'm just going to see Randy and stay at his house tonight. I promise I won't get into trouble." I claimed trying to reassure her.

"You are not allowed to go out tonight!" She suddenly screamed making me tumble backwards and hit my head against the door. As I could feel a large lump on the back of my head start to form she yanked me up by the wrists and punched me across the face.

"Now you will go back in your room and stay there." She howled at my face tears pricking the corners of my eyes as they threatened to spill out.

"Yes mom" I replied as I started to receded back upstairs to my room.

I ran into my room and shut the door quietly crying to myself. No, I wan't going to sit here and do nothing I promised Randy I would go with him and I'm going no matter what she says. I opened the window to try and hop out onto the tree and get my bike. I threw my backpack down and carefully climbed down. Finally I reached the bottom and checked my watch 10:50. I grabbed my bag and quietly slid my helmet on as I reached for my bike that was resting on the side of my house. As soon as I sat down I raced off in the direction of Randy's house.

"So much for driving to Randy's" I thought to myself.

Finally I pulled up to the familiar house number 243 and got off my bike. I gently reseted my bike down as I started to take off my helmet. Randy's house was a cute 2 story craftsman as well, but unlike mine his had a sort of homey feeling.

"Randy?" I whispered as I placed my helmet on my bike. "You here?"

No response.

I walked up to the door but decided not to knock for fear of waking up his family.

I then strolled over to the side of his house where his window was. Delicately I grabbed a small pebble off the ground and threw it at his window.

The pebble then preceded to miss his window entirely. "Good thing I didn't join the baseball team" I thought to myself as I continued to grab another pebble to try and throw again at his window. As I was on the forth pebble toss I felt someone put their hand faintly on my shoulder. I screamed terrified for who it was. That was until I heard the sound of Randy's laughter come from behind me where the mysterious person was.

"Randy! You jerk you startled me."

Randy doubled over backwards laughing hysterically on the floor as he tried to get his breath out to say "Oh that was priceless haha- you should have seen the look on your face. Your scream sounded like a little girl to haha"He laughed as he tried to stand up from the dirt.

"I wasn't scared just merely startled." I lied through my teeth while shoving Randy back on the floor.

"Nu uh you were S-C-A-R-E-D you scardey cat" Randy responded as he got off the ground dusting himself off.

"Whatever let's just go already I'm freezing my ass off and I want to be home. Also it's surprising how deep of a sleeper your family all is that they didn't hear me yell at all."

"Someones grumpy and nah there just out on a work trip and my sisters are at my cousins." He whispered back. "And here take my sweater if you're cold."

Randy took off his favorite sweater and handed it to me as I asked "Are you sure? It's your favorite sweater and I don't want to get it dirty or anything."

"Yah I'm sure just take it Lukie pookie, we gotta go" He replied grabbing his backpack and pulling out a flashlight to switch on. I pulled on Randy's oversized hoodie instantly feeling 100 times better as I breathed in the sent of him. Not weird at all. He handed me a flashlight staring at the way the hoodie fit me.

"I know it's way to big ha it goes down to my knees but I like it." I smiled knowing exactly what he was thinking.

"If you really like it that much you can keep it." He smiled back at me.

"No, I can't do that let's just go were waisting moonlight."

We started walking over to the woods behind his house. I couldn't help but stare at the massive trees towering over both of us in the night. I suddenly got this feeling that this wasn't such a good idea as my stomach twisted into knots.

Randy seemed to notice this and grabbed my hand smiling pulling me out of my trance.

"Into the woods we go!" He said dragging me along into the dark creepy mysterious Wakefield woods along with him.

It's probably all a fairy tale anyway. I'm probably just overreacting I bet were not even gonna find a well, right?
