I woke up with a splitting headache as I pulled my face out of the dirt. The sun peaking through the trees above blinding me as I tried to open my eyes.

"Where am I?" I thought.

My cold soaking clothes were sticking to my skin, and my jaw bruised from falling in the mud.

As I tried to stand up, immediately a type of pain I have never experienced before shot down through my leg.

Thats when it all hit me. The memories of my fall, Randy's screams, and the wolves all came flooding back in a blur.

"Randy" His name echoed in my mind as I looked around for any sign of him.

There was nothing except dried blood mixed with the grass and mud all around me. My mind began to race thoughts of Randy in danger pierced through my skull.

"He's probably fine." I tried to reassure myself.

" He probably got away in search of some help, otherwise he would have been next to me."

Just as I was staring to lose hope for Randy I noticed his backpack was missing, so he must have made it out somehow.

As I got lost away in my thoughts I took a moment to actually examine my leg.

There was a HUGE bite mark in it, making it bleed uncontrollably.

"I have to get some help" I thought "Maybe I can try to get to the nearest pharmacy...that is if I can make it out of here first."

I managed to crawl over to the nearest tree and carefully hoisted myself up into a weird standing position, leaning heavily on the tree.

I took a few deep breaths and started to put one foot in front of the other.

Slowly I limped into what I hoped was the direction out of here.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After many hours had passed, I finally managed to pull through all the pain and make it out of the woods.
"God I'm going to kill Randy when I find him" I mumbled  as I took the last step out of the woods onto the open road.
I looked around and noticed the familiar road back to town. Phew I sighed good thing there is a pharmacy close by.
While I continued walking on the open road I noticed how quiet it really was.
No birds whistling in the trees around.
No engines of cars humming, in fact there were no cars on the road at all.
It was just silent.
The only sound were my staggered footsteps on the asphalt and uneven breathing.
The October air whispered around me in ferocious gusts, making me shiver.
"I just have to keep walking. Just a little farther and then I'll be there." I thought.
I huddled deeper in Randy's wet and muddy sweater trying to find even the tiniest bit of warmth.
I shuffled further and further down the road until suddenly the town came into view.
I breathed a sigh of relief as I I hurriedly hobbled towards the pharmacy.
I opened the door and stepped inside as the familiar door bell went off. I shut the door behind me and instantly felt 10 times warmer as the heater must have been on.
"Hello!" I called out.
"I need some help, I was attacked in the woods last night...Hello...anyone?"
"Can anyone hear me? Please I need help." I continued to call out but to no avail no one answered.
I began to walk unevenly down the isles looking for stuff I may need to patch myself up. The eerie feeling continued as the silence once again filled the air.
"I guess everyones on holiday or helping set up for the Halloween festival." I wondered as I started grabbing supplies off the shelves. Some bandages are all I need I guess.
I hobbled up to the counter and called out again but still no one answered. I opened the box of bandages and wrapped my leg up.
"Hellooooooooooo" I called again as I popped open a bottle of pain killers I found behind the counter.
I swallowed one dry and decided I should start heading home before my mom gets really angry.
I took one last glance back at the empty pharmacy and headed back out into the cold frosty autumn air outside.
When I shut the door behind me I realized that no cars were driving out here either. They were all empty and abandoned. As I strolled by there were no people talking in the coffee shop windows. There were no people eating in restaurants. There were no sounds except for my heavy breathing and the howling wind.
"HELLOOOOOOOOO" I shouted "IS ANYONE HEREEEEE? HELLOOOOO!!"
I continued to call out to no one in particular feeling a little agitated by the growing silence.
Thats when I heard it.
The wind came to a stop.
The world seemed to stop turning.
Time itself stopped in place.
That was until the wind came calling back to me, and in this it whispered the word...
ALONE.
